Suppose we prefer the tastes we grew up with- and it has nothing to do with quality, better or worse- just what we are used to. A question of taste, and certainly no need to insult or be rude, either way surely.

Re: EU bans Indian mangoes

I'm still baffled that I'm getting such abuse just because I expressed my dislike for Indian mangoes and how I think Pakistani mangoes are better.

I think Indian Mangoes are horrible. I think Malaysia (and any other) Durian are smelly. I think Spanish Strawberries taste like wood. I think Thai mangoes are horrible. I think Israeli Apples are horrible.

All fruits I grew up with and don't like.

I'm a bit shocked as well.

[Warning: Logic Alert !!!]

There is more than a reasonable chance that the varieties of Mango you grew up with in Pakistan are significantly different to those grown in India.

Mango (... nearly all crops actually) varieties are predominantly bred for both purpose and climate suitability. Market demands also influence what makes a variety more successful than another.

If Indians use Mangos in their food differently to Pakistanis (just guessing here), then this would be an influence of the market demand.

This would perfectly answer why you associate superiority of mango's from Pakistan.
(and is perfectly normal in my opinion)

Coming from Queensland Australia, I assure you.... all you Europeans and Asians only eat shit mangos anyway*.
The Kensington Pride Mango grown in Bowen is the best.

*intentional statement to demonstrate personal preference isn't indicative of what is considered 'better quality'.... but I really don't like Mangos here, that wasn't a lie.

Is what you said. I never grew up in Pakistan. I was born in Scotland I spent 22 years of my life there before making the biggest mistake of my life and moving here! We got all kinds of mangoes from all over in Scotland. Shitty Indian ones infested with fruits flies, lovely juicy Pakistani ones and then some super expensive thai and African ones as well I guess.

To be honest I'm insulted that you think I grew up in Pakistan just because I'm brown and I'm Muslim. Guess that's expected from an Aussie but I've already been called a chimp in this thread and now this.

Not sure why I bother.

As someone who grew up in Pakistan, I can confirm that all mangoes are shit and that Wispas are much sweeter and tastier.

Ha Ha.... WOW !!!
Come on mate, I wasn't sledging you at all... at - all.
I've been trying to defend you actually.

I don't think I drew any conclusion to where you were born or raised. I was merely talking about the origin of the Mangoes you love so much.

You said you liked the Pakistani Mangoes better than the Indian ones.... people have wrongly given you a hard time about that.
I've just pointed out that I agree with you that the origin of the mango will affect peoples perception of quality etc.

When you said you grew up in Scotland, I was just trying to say that the Mangoes you liked were not from there..... by implying that Mangoes can't possibly grow in Scotland due to the climate.

I wasn't attacking you.

I honestly didn't mean to cause offence. (read the post again)

to be honest, anything that's been shipped halfway around the world to satisfy out out-of-season needs is going to lack in something.

so maybe everyone's right and it's just a location thing?

and also I cannot believe that this thread is still rollin', rollin', rollin'.....Rawhide!
