Oooh, I LOVES my coke, I do!

I consider myself a connoisseur of cola, I drink loads of it both diet and non-diet!

In my opinion coke light is the yuckiest one of them all, tied with pepsi light. The "zero" version (or "max" for pepsi) is the only diet version I would bother with! I'd noticed for several years in the UK the light versions had been dwindling in favour of zero and max. I used to wonder if I personally had anything to do with it as pretty sure I keep both companies in business ha!

I prefer coca-cola to pepsi but coca-cola need to pull their finger out, they've fallen behind with the diet version of cherry cola. Cherry pepsi max is the don. Sadly I haven't found it anywhere in Switzerland Coke's diet cherry coke is the most minging soda I have ever tasted and while cherry coke zero is palatable, it's got nothing on cherry pepsi max...

Of all the cheaper/less-known brands, I find the sugary versions are not-bad-imitations but all the diet versions suck.

Conclusion, it must be difficult to make good diet cola. The formula must be very tricky as so many of them are horrible... pepsi have nailed it though

(Just in case any of you gaf! )
i agree with you. i can't stand coke light, but coke zero is fine.

Re: The final demise of Coke Light?

Any form of Coca-Cola is poison.

Empty calories, concentrated sugar and/or artificial chemicals.
It has virtually no nutritional value, contributes heavily to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, tooth decay, and is especially detrimental to the health of young children who go on to form a life-long addiction to it (and pass it on to their kids).

And here we have a thread discussing which type is best.
First world problem indeed.

Ahh Karl again, right on time with the anti-fizzy drinks spiel.

We live in Switzerland, so I guess any discussion not of a serious nature to do with food and drink is a "first world problem" indeed... quick, lets delete the whole sub-section!

you are repeating yourself

Coca Cola are at Sihl City doing personalized cans for free...

you have a point though. I am happy that my child doesn't even want to try Coca Cola.

Ehh, why not just brew some coca tea? It gives you plenty of buzz without all that sugary and acidic nonsense that rots your teeth.

While we are at it, I have some merchandise for you here in my jacket. Let's just go behind that corner there to be out of sight and you can take a look.

Re: The final demise of Coke Light?

I think the demise of Coke Light is premature.

I was recently in the UK for a few weeks, you can hardly get a coke zero in restaurants, its all diet coke /coke light!

Chill.

I don't think anyone is extolling the health benefits of Coke!

Whilst regular coke is pretty bad for you, by virtue simply being a sugar vehicle, I think the light and zero stuff is even worse - I simply don't trust the additives that make something without sugar taste sweet. I will only drink the regular stuff, preferably the non-high fructose corn syrup stuff, sparingly.
There's nothing wrong with it if you drink it only occasionally, and I MEAN occasionally. But if you drink it as if were water, and ESPECIALLY as if were water on a hot day, you're going to have problems.

My son says he has heard a rumour about some cancer scare regarding my tipple - or is it some marketing initiative? Anyone have any inside info on this?
He's absolutely right - it's a great marketing initiative. After all, nothing spreads more warm vibes about your brand than saying it gives you cancer.

don't they have a new one by coke for England in a green can? Made with less sugar or something coming.
They sure do -- it's called "Coke Life", basically sweetened with Stevia instead of sugar. Here's a link that talks about it.

Yum?

I find the only use for coke is for mixing a substandard rum.

I was told that Coke Light was marketed for women, but many men enjoyed it so they just rebranded it as Coke Zero as Coke Light for men.

No proof of this, and I'm sure this is more of an urban legend, but I do have Swiss friends who won't let me drink Coke Light around them, they make a fuss about it and are uncomfortable with it.

Coke Light and Coke Zero have distinctly different flavours, so that it clearly is not just a re-branding matter

As opposed to Coke Light which is a pure bio product that flows naturally from deep under the Earth's crust and is captured in a bottling plant near the Nantahala National Forest north of Atlanta?

It's soda. Water, sugar and a bunch of flavoring with colors and crap thrown in to give you a buzz.

Yes, sure, but what is the Problem ? I love wine, which is processed grape Juice with some alcohol, and also beer which is liquefied bread

Awww, well it's delicious. I am slim and fit and have good teeth. My kids don't even like it even though they see me drink it all the time. I know it's no good for me but i don't smoke, don't eat meat, I eat healthily and exercise; I don't like to be TOO perfect. Pisses people off

I picked some up accidentally today. It tastes alright, but it's also got 30-odd grammes of sugar in a 500 ml bottle. So, it seems to be an alternative to full-fat Coke, rather than Diet/Light or Zero.

Re: The final demise of Coke Light?

Alas, only a couple a day - no sessions allowed nowadays

Just 14 grams of carbs. a bottle (Corona), I just count it together as food when I inject. Doctor seems happy with my BS levels (so far). This is where the Coke Light comes into play - extends my evenings out.

In a nutshell:

Remember back in 1985 when they reformulated Coke and it bombed, so then they re-released the original formula as Coca-Cola Classic?

Coke Light is New Coke without sugar.
Coke Zero is Coke Classic without sugar.
