Re: The final demise of Coke Light?

In a nutshell:

Remember back in 1985 when they reformulated Coke and it bombed, so then they re-released the original formula as Coca-Cola Classic?

Coke Light is New Coke without sugar.
Coke Zero is Coke Classic without sugar.
Nice try at simplification, but Diet Coke/Coke Light was launched in 1982, three years before New Coke. While both were completely new formulations of Coke, they have little in common.

Re: The final demise of Coke Light?

Anyone who wants Coke light - click for Migros availability, enter your ZIP or location in the "Verfügbarkeit" field and hey presto, you'll know which Migros sells your drink.

Re: The final demise of Coke Light?

I'm a Dr Pepper fan myself. Coke is okay, but too fizzy (gives me hiccups) and as for Pepsi.

Only have Dr Pepper occasionally though, mostly I'm ice tea (low cal) and water.

OP, have you tried any of the other light versions of cola there are on the market?

Re: The final demise of Coke Light?

All the coke light (plastic) bottles are reduced by 50% in my local Micros. So down to 60rp.

Re: The final demise of Coke Light?

A bit of a necropost, but I finally did try the Coke Life earlier this week. Tastes pretty much like regular coke, but does have that "stevia/aspartame" sweetness that the regular one does not.

That said, I could only drink about half of it, it was so damned sweet.

No proof of this, and I'm sure this is more of an urban legend, but I do have Swiss friends who won't let me drink Coke Light around them, they make a fuss about it and are uncomfortable with it.
oh that's easy then. You need to get new friends.

Unfortuantely I'm not interesting, intelligent or cool enough to pick friends, just have to take whatever few people come my way.

Chemmie died in a fire and his body was burned badly. The morgue needed someone to identify the body, so they sent for his two best deer hunting friends, Cooter and Gomer. The three men had always hunted and fished together and were long time members of a hunting camp.
Cooter arrived first, and when the mortician pulled back the sheet, Cooter said, “Yup, his face is burned up pretty bad. You better roll him over.” The mortician rolled him over and Cooter said, “Nope, ain't Chemmie.”
The mortician thought this was rather strange, So he brought Gomer in to confirm the identity of the body. Gomer looked at the body and said, “Yup, he's pretty well burnt up. Roll him over.” The mortician rolled him over and Gomer said, “No, it ain't Chemmie.”
The mortician asked, “How can you tell?”
Gomer said, “Well, Chemmie had two ass-holes.”
“What! He had two ass-holes?” asked the mortician.
“Yup, we never seen 'em, but everybody used to say, there's Chemmie them two ass-holes.”

Re: The final demise of Coke Light?

Round here at least the Coke Light has started appearing with pink dots on the label. I can only assume this is some sort of scheme to stop men buying it and restricting it to its target female audience.

Wow, I think I just got some gender stereotyping craving over saturated, thanks.

Anyways, I just had a debate over the Soda Tax Wars in SF yesterday, this thread reminded me.. I think I still veer over to No to Pop Tax, tbh. I just don't think cash should motivate or inspire moderacy. Though health costs and insurance troubles related, my No isn't a strong one, just can't think crunchy enough to ignore consequences, it will just drive reg drinks prices up, nothing else. I don't think portion control (NYC ban style) pushed by authorities will do much either. Are there more progressive ways than those? Limited shop opening hours don't count.

Diet Coke completely disappearing is probably a good thing. It always seemed a moderacy con to me, though I liked the fizziness.

What's up with the new (?) coke? Green bottle wrapping. Anyone tasted it yet?

(I'm not affiliated with Coke in any way )

That's this one. Our son tasted it in the UK back in October and said it was a sweet version of regular coke. Since I can't abide coke in any way shape or form I'll have to take his word for it.

Re: The final demise of Coke Light?

As zerogre's post is from last Oct this has me wondering why Coop labels green coke as "novelty"
Flat warm coke helps when sick
Tastes like though.

Well the link says it will be available in Switzerland from February 2015 so I guess it's just arrived.

I think I'd rather just be sick thanks.

Re: The final demise of Coke Light?

"Coke Life" is sweetened with stevia ( a so called natural sweetener) and sugar. Still calorific but less so than "Fat Coke". Great marketing by Coca Cola

Stevia won't turn it into a healthy drink though as Coke is anything but - but whoever likes the taste, go for it, I'll pass

Re: The final demise of Coke Light?

Just back from London; Selfridges food court had thousands of those green cokes all severely reduced. It doesn't seem to be a good seller. I rarely drink coke, but don't mind either Diet Coke or Pepsi Max; however I find the concept of a half-fat coke stupid. Either drink normal coke or the diet one. I find the normal one too sweet, but friends of mine who drink it say the diet versions (ie the ones I drink with the artificial sweeteners in it) are too sweet, so it seems one just gets used to one or t'other.

Forget normal Coke, I wish they would produce the "Man Coke" with double the calories, sugar and additives. If someone's Coke intake is causing negative effects on their health, then maybe Coke isn't the real issue and the diet, zero, earth, yuppy metrosexual version won't really have a positive effect either.
