It was always bound to succumb eventually to Heinz, Nestlé, Unilever or Kraft.

I grew up in the house which the son of William Perrins (co-inventor of the recipe) built overlooking the Severn valley. It's a phenomenal Victorian pile, long since converted to apartments, but it always amazed me that so much wealth could be created from such a seemingly insignificant product.

To describe LEA&PERRINS as insignifant is the Understatement of the day. I do not remember to have used it ever, but I have seen it very very often. I however learnt to love HP Sauce

I am just wondering how somebody who grew up in a Victorian building overlooking the Severn ever could come over to Switzerland

Over to Nestle. When the Nestle chaps aquired BACI DI PERUGIA Mum complained that to be a shame. BUT the product has remained the SAME

Over to Kraft-Jacobs¨Suchard. Suchard chocolate is as good as ever

AND lots of other good products are now part of this Company, which right now is doubling their property in Glattbrugg

Thomy mayonnaise, mustard and salad dressings

Thomy MAYONNAISE until his end in 94 was THE favourite of my Brother, but there are many many good mustards around and even more salad dressings, so that I do not see a particular Trademark to be favoured

Re: What condiment could you not live without?

Isn't salad dressing something you can make very easily and quickly using ingredients that can be found in any decent kitchen? What's more, that way you have literally hundreds of varieties at your hands in no time.

Our grocery store in rural Michigan has about 120 kinds of salad dressings on offer. Seriously. I've never felt tempted to try even one of them.
