Where to buy big jars (3, 4 or 5L)

Can anyone tell where these big jars can be bought?
I know they sell the smaller versions at Landi and IKEA but am looking for big ones: 3L or larger.

Re: Where to buy big jars (3, 4 or 5L)

While they might not carry them at your local store in the normal product range, did you ask at Landi if they could order the larger sizes for you? 'Uncommon' things are often in the Landi catalog, you just have to order. Ready to pick up at your local store in about a week.

(I ask because typically the person looking to do canning on that scale is a Landi customer. )

Other than that... I know that Kilner (the English jars) makes a 3l 'Drahtbügelglas' jar. I've bought Kilner jars at Manor (for a horror price, which is why I've learned to check Landi first) but I don't think I've seen the large ones in stock. But again, perhaps they could special order for you.

Ball makes a half gallon jar, the type with lids and rings. Amazon is probably your best source in Europe.

But I'm stumped for other sources, I'm afraid. I do most of my canning in .15 or .25 jars.

I do think Landi has got the large ones.
That was also my thought, too.

Although, I do think that individual stores (staff) choose what they stock (and don't), depending on location and local demand.

Apologies for hyjacking this thread. Meloncollie, do you maybe know if you can buy pressure canners in Switzerland/Europe? So far I have only seen the big things for Glühwein and so.

OP: I have seen bigger jars on Amazon but would recommend Landi as well (often cheaper)

Thanks Odile & Meloncollie!
Will go to another bigger Landi store closeby and if not in range there will check if they can order them.
Thanks for the tip!

Good question - and I'm afraid I don't know.

Decades later, I am still traumatized by my one attempt at MIL's prehistoric pressure canner. (How she managed the farm canning without killing anyone, I'll never know. Hats off to those with more intestinal fortitude than I have.) So I restrict my canning to water bath.

I have a Weck Einkochautomat, which I think is just a fancy pants water bath canner. I say 'think', because it's still sitting in the keller, unopened. I do mostly small batch canning so my ersatz water bath canner - a spaghetti pot - does the trick nicely with little fuss.

But for anything canning, I'd head to Landi first, see if one can be ordered. If it can be found in Switzerland they would have it, or at least know where to look.

Good luck!

Found them in the bigger Landi store, thanks for the tip!
They had 3L and 5L jars.

(As for Amazon, found them on there as well but unfortunately, no delivery to Switzerland offered.)

Either he/she got canned or has canned him/herself.
