Looking for feedback in these 2 places.. Both look nice.

Le Cedre is really good. I prefer the one at Bellveue.

Re: Views on le cedre or la taqueria -zurich.

the service at Le Cèdre in Bellevue is pretty bad and unfriendly (they don't let you choose what you really want.. they dont serve you "water" for free.. pretty bad experience.. will never go back)
La Taqueria is very nice. A friendly place and the food quality is pretty good. Unfortunately, it's not in the center of the city (or I would go more often).

Re: Views on le cedre or la taqueria -zurich.

Time for some real feedback ;-). Le Cedre is still very popular especially on Friday / Saturday. They serve lots of big groups so make sure to book in advance. Service can therefore be "unfriendly". If people go during the week it's more quiet then and you will get better and friendlier service. Food is nice it pays to go with more than one person because you can sample different mezze. Make sure to mention all allergies once you order (especially nuts because they put the nuts on top of things or mix it into them at the end so that can easily be done without). Not everything will be made fresh once you order so other allergies can be more difficult. Again probably easier during the week. Have never been to the one at Bellevue only the one near Stauffacher.
Taqueria is very small so you might need a reservation as well. Tacos are also premade (again might be a problem with certain allergies). No problem if you are only two people you can still sample the different ones.
I like both places but I visit for different occasions and with different number of people. Hope that helps.

Re: Views on le cedre or la taqueria -zurich.

Based on the (genuine) Mexican food I've had in the US, La Taqueria is alright. It's as good as I've had in Switz. The staff are very friendly and the place is nice. The food itself is pleasant and makes an attempt at authenticity, without being overly amazing.

I've not been to the Middle East, but I find Le Cedre (Badenerstrasse) to be great. For my money, it's a better deal and tastier than La Taqueria. Just my personal tuppence/2 cents worth.

On a tangent, right across the street is a take-away falafel place, Les Delices de l'Orient. Also pretty good for food-to-go, as is Palestina Grill on Langstrasse.

I also like
the PERLE DE BEIRUT (Langstrasse) and
the PALME DE BEIRUT (Bertastrasse)
while the Cèdre Bellevue has a superb location

I have been in BOTH Cèdre several times and always could and did chose what I wanted. The service in the Aussersihl Cèdre is rather better than in the Bellevue place as the old place is managed directly by the owner and is of a practical design. The best Service is to be found at the PERLE while the PALME has the comfortable ambiance of a family guesthouse

While the best Arab Restaurant in Switzerland I know is the MEKTOUB at the Rue Chaponnière 5 in Geneva, I like Mulhouse/Mülhausen with its many Arab Restaurants, for example on the Route de Colmar north of downtown

As a good reference, have a look on tripadvisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restauran...ue-Zurich.html

and it seems to be clear that opinions differ a lot.. and 50% of the people are not very happy.

Somewhat confusing are statements about not being given a choice. while the Cèdre has a very nice menu with wide choices of apéros, meals, wines, desserts and spirits And the personnel will serve what you choose

Re: Views on le cedre or la taqueria -zurich.

Confusing to you but it's a fact. It was simply my worst experience and n Zürich. We were a bunch of friends (4-5 people). We went through the menu and agreed to take individual plates. The waiter did not like it and pushed us to take a special platter. The food was great but sorry the guy way too rude and over disrespectful. He is allowed to be stressed but not to be behave like that. Another friend of mine had a similar experience. Maybe they changed in the meanwhile the waiters..anyway I did not like the atmosphere with a random belly dancer and it's super loud (you cannot speak to each other). Some people might like it. I prefer way much more a place like maison blaunt.

I am sure that I once had the same guy. who treated the girls at the next table like dirt. I took the matter over and told him that there were TWO ways, either he accepted the given orders or we all would depart to the Cèdre Casino Aussersihl and report there about HIM. He then disappeared and was replaced by a young Lady, who behaved normally.

Not confusing but amazing is that when the Boss Maurice Houraibi is around personally, even Mr Arrogantling becomes nice. Not least as Maurice tends to welcome guests personally. He however mostly is in the Cèdre Casino Aussersihl

But again, let's not Forget that there are competitioners in the PALME DE BEIRUT and the PERLE DE BEIRUT. The service in the PALME is excellent and the one in the PERLE even better

Re: Views on le cedre or la taqueria -zurich.

We went to Le Cedre near Stauffacher for a colleague's farewell dinner and loved it. An elderly gentleman handed us our menus and explained the dishes. Once the dishes started coming in, we also realized that the portions were huge. Needless to say, the food was delicious as well. The service was superior yet low key.

The only two minuses were, well, obviously the cost. Not sure if I can afford Le Cedre personally more than once a year! And second, it's difficult finding a parking spot on Badenerstrasse.

Suppose that the "elderly Gentleman" was one of the Houraibi Brothers (Manager or chief-cook in Aussersihl or manager-in-Charge on the Bellevue) --- and they are NOT "elderly" at all but born after 1947

I was not at all impressed by La Taqueria. The quality and prices both left to be desired. Try Cantina La Lupe instead.
