..and actually there is no Lidl in Zurich (probs too cheap) so that's too much effort if I have to go to the Ghetto areas just to get a kanga-steak
You're promoting bad stereotypes about Australia...kangaroo isn't that common!!

Anyway, there's a Lidl in Kloten (airport town) if you want to go there.

Uhm ... there are many Lidls in decent areas...

Clearly you've never seen a real Ghetto if you think any of the above mentioned locations qualify...

Re: Kangaroo Meat

Denner seems to have it on a semi regular basis throughout the summer, usually in a fridge where they keep all the specials / discount stuff.

A friend of mine has also mentioned carnacentre in Winterthur - it's listed in the catalogue on the website for 16 chf / kg which is pretty good for red meaty goodness in this part of the world...

On the contrary, it's very common in Australia -- you just need to look in the right shops.

Having said that, I'm a big fan of kangaroo steaks. Lean, tender and delicious.

Re: Kangaroo Meat

Was just going to say that. I've only ever bought roo meat to feed my Kelpie...aside from that, I don't mind the odd roo sausage but it's definitely not as commonly eaten as a lot of foreigners think!

I think it's quite funny when I went to the outback steakhouse and they're serving emu and croc. Never tried either - definitely very interesting and croc meat is tough. Wouldn't say I'm a fan. Although, emus are probably better on the plate rather than chasing me down trying to kill me - like every other Aussie animal, heh

The DM makes a news article out of a few holiday snaps of an everyday occurrence?!

I have similar photos of my son with lambs, calves and foals. All delicious.

Probably not. I respect your decision to avoid meat -- entirely your right to do so. My position is that humans evolved as omnivores -- our dentition and digestive systems are set up that way -- and eating meat seems natural to me.

Or, as David Mitchell would have it, it's an ethical thing -- I don't believe humans should be treated that way.

Re: Kangaroo Meat

If you want to have Kangaroo food in a restaurant you might try Mama Africa in ZH (I know Kangaroo is not Africa) but they serve really great 'special' meat there.

Cheers
