Beef sausages?

Any idea where I can get beef sausages...or something very similar...in Zurich?

Am totally tired of the pork, salty, highly processed 'wurst'...

Closest we have found is the spicy chipolatas from the supermarket...

Any ideas?

Re: Beef sausages?

I can't do bratwurst either. Bauern (Farmer) wurst seems a lot better (chunky) and quite often I have seen it parboiled before hitting the grill. Some butchers do sausages/wurst at prices close to the supermarkets but you need to search for them. Failing that contact Jack at Laughing Lemon he know all things food. But I would kill for a couple of Kgs of thin Aussie beef sausages.

Landjäger? It still has some pork though; I discovered them recently and I love them

There should be more "bio" versions out there in the farmers markets, they surely deserve it.

Re: Beef sausages?

Bell may produce them - but when I did a quick search, I only found Beef Sausages with chilli - available from Coop At Home ...... whether they're in Coop stores as well, I couldn't say.

Re: Beef sausages?

Perhaps some merguez from Migros/ Coop - I think they have the beef version (merguez is traditionally lamb). They do have a bit of spice in them, so may not be suitable for those who don't like spicy.

Who is your butcher? I would buy 5kg of sausages...if they were under about 20chf per kilo. In Australia they would cost maybe $5-10 per kilo..

Re: Beef sausages?

Aren't Halal sausages typically beef, or are there other ingredients in it? That is what I look for when searching for beef sausages.

As mentioned before: http://www.metzgerei-bleicher.ch/ in Monchaltorf

As for 20chf per kilo - I have no idea, I would need to ask. The meat quality is high so I doubt you'll get "cheap" meat if that is what you are looking for.

Re: Beef sausages?

Even back in Blighty, with it's many varieties of sausages, beef was just one of many, and not overly popular.
Here, it appears it's not easy to come by, other than persuading a butcher to make some, so may I suggest ...... Nürnberger sausages? - tasty and easily found at Aldi, as an alternative.

Re: Beef sausages?

The Turkish shop (Ege Market) sells beef sausages. Try the ones in the fridge next to milk, beverages from the brand Egeturk.. they come in various shapes and not too spicy

Re: Beef sausages?

... and there is http://www.wors.ch/wmenu.php, a South African, Reon, man living in canton Vaud, Switzerland. I have not ordered from him, but have heard good things of his products.

One orders online, payment by Paypal, and he delivers to some central points for pickup or, if I have understood it correctly, also POSTS the products, specially packed.

Have you read the previous posts on this thread ..... or was that worthwhile bit of repeat information, just to make your 10?
