Re: Chicken breast and eggs

Welcome to the forum.

If you want to go super cheap (why, as a chef?), go to Migros and buy M-Budget Poulet (Poulet is the Swiss word for chicken, M-Budget is the cheap brand), along with M-Budget eggs.

chicken

eggs

If I were you I'd go for Freiland (free-range) eggs though, much tastier than the cheap ones.

LIDL and ALDI shops might be even cheaper.

Re: Chicken breast and eggs

A bit off topic except in the reference to the title, but for those who were around when Paul Simon released the song "Mother and Child Reunion", he was apparently thinking of a Chinese dish consisting of chicken and egg, as he composed the words. The cryptic phrase in the song "Mother and child reunion is only a motion away" refers to a bowel motion.

I have already heard of ingredients being mixed in a bowl, but in the bowel ? Care to share the recipe ?

I think that at the end of the motion, the ingredients are reunited in the bowl, albeit not in their original, recognisable form.

Re: Chicken breast and eggs

chicken: try the kilo metzg on Badenerstrasse, just past Albisriederplatz heading into the city. Very close to the Crown Plaza.

eggs: dunno about cheap. perhaps prix garantie in the coop opposite the kilo metzg.

You asked about Zuerich, but you can buy both of these for a lot less in Germany. Drawback is that you are allowed to bring in 1 KG of meat through the border per day, and frozen chicken breast can get tough and dry unless you know how to brine it. I'm not aware of any limits on eggs.
