Black-eyed pea (not the band)!

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some kind of beans we used to eat back home, these ones --> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black-eyed_pea

Anyone knows where I can buy them or at least the Swiss German name?

I live around Zurich.

Thanks in advance!

My local Migros and Coop (Geneva) sells both tinned and dried ones, I see no reason why similar shops in the german part of Switzerland wouldn't have them too. Just look at the tinned vegetable aisle, or at the dried pulses section!

Have seen dried ones in bigger coops also in zurich (example in sihlcity), same shelf where they have black beans etc. (which is not the same place where other lentils and dried beans are for some unknown reason

Thanks everyone. I searched our local COOP and nothing. I'll check Migros today. Maybe I need to visit a bigger store. It's good to know they exist though :P

Re: Black-eyed pea (not the band)!

They have it in the bigger COOPs and Migros. Worse case scenario, direct yourself to the "international" section in any larger COOP (example Hinwil) and find the Portuguese section. Look for this:

Most "international" stores in the city center of Zürich (for example, Indian and/or Turkish stores) have dried beans of all types, including black eyed peas.

I can't swear to it - but I am sure I have seen them in Barkat in Wiedikon and Badenerstrasse.

Certainly they were good for yellow split peas which were not to be found in the mainstream shops.
