Marché du terroir and absinthe, Genève next week-end

An old friend from my region, where absinthe, the Green Fairy was born, has a distillery just outside at Plan-les-Ouates (chemin de Marensy 50) - next week end he will hold a food and absinthe market there- FRiday 17.00-21.00
Satuday 11.00-19.00 and Sunday 11.00-18.00.

All sorts of local goodies, chocolates (with absinthe) and lots of different absinthes - great for presents to take home. One favourite for our UK friends is his 'WANR' absinthe (his name is 'Wanner') - with a final R that looks incredibly like a 'K' . He had no idea when we told him about it- as he didn't know the word. Same year as me, born in the next village. If you go, say hello to René from me.

Re: Marché du terroir and absinthe, Genève next week-end

Last time i had absinthe it was in the form of a (rather large) sorbet at a local restaurant..

Afterwards when we went home, I went upstairs and proceeded to urinate on the bed, standing up, like i was in the toilet. So I'm told, I can't remember any of it.

Well tried- but I don't believe a word of it. Come and visit Val-de-Travers- and all will be explained Van Gogh cut his ear because he was drinking turps by the gallon and eating his own paints when he run out

I'll even make you 'Soufflé glacé à l'absinthe' and if you *iss on the bed after that, I'll eat a plateful of raw wormwood (now that is bitter as hell).

I kid you not .. It really happened.. Well so my wife says, maybe she did it actually just to get a new bed.

I'd like to, it's not far from me.. But I fear if i mention it to the wife she'll just laugh and mention that fateful night.

Nope- doing my absinthe shopping right here next week-end a lot more variety. Happy to guide and help out anyone here- there is a massive choice at
La Maison de 'Absinthe Museum in Môtiers- and lots of independent distillers to visit (with the train station 1 min away).

www.maison-absinthe.ch

The Museum is really interesting, and you can do a tasting after the visit at very cheap rates. Also chocolates, absinthe spoons, glasses, etc- great presents for family and friends 'back home'. Guided visit anyone? Great restaurant for lunch too, at Auberge des Six Communes round the corner- and you can even pick some excellent Mauler 'champagne' right next to the station.

Other folks; the museum is definitely worth a visit. Plenty to look at and a decent (s)hampagne house just down the road for an extra tasting opportunity.
