Alcohol Prices In Restaurants

Hi All,

I'm after some advice who ever is willing to help. Setting up a restaurant in the Valais and we are pricing our drinks list. What would you expect to pay for

50cl Beer
50cl White Beer
Vodka Lemonade (2cl vodka)
Rum and Coke (2cl rum)
Gin and Tonic (2cl gin)

dont want to price our selves too high, nice restaurant in the mountains near a ski lift, want to be accessible for everyone

Re: Alcohol Prices In Restaurants

Have you visited the other restaurants in the area? And also the quality of the drink.

About 7chf for a beer is about right.

Just go on a local 'pub' crawl and you'll find out for yourself.

Re: Alcohol Prices In Restaurants

Have you had a look at prices for those in local restaurants/Cafés? Of course Verbier prices will be higher. There is an English guy who runs (owns I think) a Hôtel restaurant in Bretaye/Villars (Hôtel du Lac) on the opposite side of the Rhône Valley, maybe you could go and have a good chat with him.

www.bretaye.ch

Never been btw- but he is a friend of a friend. Look at the photos and website- it looks fab.

Re: Alcohol Prices In Restaurants

General most spirits and mixers are about the same price.

I just had two G&Ts (Hendricks) for CHF28.00 both. That's central Zurich...

Beer 6-7 chf if 33 clbottled or half liter draft, even 7.50 if it's special beer.
Cuba libre with 5 cl of havana club and similar long drinks 10-12 chf, 14 chf for a cocktail.
Don't know about those 2 cl drinks.

It would merely be an aperitif ...

Re: Alcohol Prices In Restaurants

A 50cl Beer has about 2 to 2.5 cl pure acohol.
A drink with 2 cl spirit has 0.8 cl alcohol. Based on the CHF 7 for the beer you can charge ~CHF 3 for the alc alone.

With so less alcohol it must be served in a 20 cl glass, with one of this nice small 20 cl bottles. I think max CHF 3 is o.k. for this bottles.

Makes a total of CHF 6 for this aeamm, *chough* "drinks".

Re: Alcohol Prices In Restaurants

Some restaurant markups are ridiculous (Park Hyatt Zürich charging 4x retail making a 100 CHF wine 400 CHF) and are completely unfair in that they penalise people wanting to drink high quality wines. There are however a few places where the markups are more than fair and you feel happy about ordering something good off the card. The Carlton restaurant and James Joyce pub offer well selected wines at really fair prices in downtown Zürich. The Carlton is a bit more fancy (though the food is great and fairly priced) and James Joyce is great for a burger, actually good fish & chips, and perhaps the best club sandwich in Zürich. It takes a bit of research in Switzerland but fair priced booze does exist!
