Indian kitchen appliances

Hi,
I have just moved to Zürich from Bangalore. Was wondering if any of you can help me locate a shop in Zürich or nearby towns which would sell Indian kitchen appliances (Mixie/Grinder). Though many of you wont understand what these things do, if you have ever had IDLI or DOSA you may want to help me locate a shop. Any one giving me helpful pointers will be served Idli and chutney

Re: Indian kitchen appliances

Tough one!
Prethi export to the US but not to Europe and Sumeet don't seem to either - they suggest to contact them at help@sumeet.net for European outlets....

Maybe you can order it online and have it sent. Try http://www.innoconcepts.com/220Vitems.htm

Good luck,
Barbra.

Hi,

My best bet would be Aggarwal's Supermarket since he's a direct importer from India and Sri Lanka and has the biggest India-related supermarket in Zurich that I know of. It's on Langstrasse 62 (Tram 8 Helvetiaplatz or bus 32 same stop).
He does mention "Kitchenware" in the Products subsection, but unfortunately no details.
http://www.aggarwal.ch/aboen.html

Given the huge influx of Indian expats over the last 2 years (I'm ex-UBS as of 2 months ago ), there's probably enough demand for those appliances living out there

EDIT:
PS: If you make it a round trip to Barkat @ Schmiede Wiedikon and you arrive at HB:
1) take tram 14 direction Triemli till Schmiede Wiedikon and visit Barkat's
2) where you got off on Schmiede, take again the 14 (direction Triemli) or 9 (direction Heuried/Triemli)
3) get off at the next stop, Goldbrunnenplatz
4) take bus 32 (direction Holzerhurd, NOT Strassenverkehrsamt)
5) get off at stop Helvetiaplatz (4th stop), walk along in the direction the bus departed, Aggarwal's is hardly 100m from the stop on the same side of the street
6) done? walk back to the tram stop where you crossed the street (Stauffacherstrasse) at the traffic lights, halfway between Aggarwal's and the bus stop
7) take tram 8 direction Klusplatz
8) hop off at Stauffacher (next stop)
9) take tram 3 or 14 back to HB

Hi Shwetad

I actually brought a mixie from India itself and one day it suddenly stopped working due to overload and cos of my ignorance i found later only tht every mixie will have a 'overload protector' and nw its working properly...but i heard tht mixie is available in SKT,Quellenstrasse...

PS:I took it tht u also want to knw whr will mixie be available and hence the reply...

Time to check the "overload protecter" on your keyboard - looks like some keys have stopped working.
