Re: The Französiche and Italienische Sauce : it puzzles me.

the French Dressing has NOTING to do with a chap named French but

with French Mayonnaise plus White Wine and Garlic from Southrn France

while the Italian Sauce is based on OLIVE OIL and RED wine from Italy

BOTH sauces date back to PRE USA days

nobody knew the English names before 1970 but the French variety was the Mayonnaise Sauce while the Italian one was simply the mix of red-wine-vinegar and olive oil

BOTH can be improved by addin SOY Sauce snd Thymian and Mayoran

you may see the Connection when you see that the kings of the Risorgimento were the kings of SAVOY-PIEMONTE-SARDINIA and the government was lead by the Savoyard Conte CAVOUR

Thanks!

Of course one must ask the question at what point does dressing become soup? I always have to specify "sehr wenig" or there is an inch of the stuff at the bottom.

I guess Aromat is also an approved enhancer, or even key ingredient...
