Bagels have also been seen at the Coop on Mission Strasse in Basel. Enjoy.

For those who live in Basel, you can also get some cheap Bagels in Marktkauf, just across the German border. They are, unsurprisingly, in the bread section.

I don't think there are any "English Shops" with British branded goods in CH? but there is in Stuttgart, a fair drive for most people, but they might have something that you are looking for like cereal.

Re: Bagels in Coop, Bern

The bagels seem to have disappeared from Coop again. Anyone else seen bagels at Coop since the beginning of November?

I have a recipe, just have to get motivated. I still have a four-pack, and I have Philadelphia Cream Cheese in the fridge.

I just had one for breakfast with cheese and tomato. Bought them at the coop yesterday. They had two kinds on offer - plain and sesame seed. There were loads of packets of sesame seed bagels but only a three plain fourpacks. I took all the plain packs!

I finally collared a Coop store assistant who was stacking the bread shelves this evening and asked her what the on/off story was with the bagels. She tells me they have a delivery every two months and once they're gone that's it until the next delivery. She did show me some square packs of bagel dough which I'd never noticed before among the chilled pre-packed pastry dough. Limited appeal for someone like me who isn't into DIY but I guess it depends on how desperate you are.

Migros in Zug has fresh bagels every day. They do a cream cheese for under CHF 2 from their Budget range that is great too.

Not sure how new they are, but I don't recall seeing them before -- bagels at the Coop in Thalwil (and perhaps other Coops??). And they are really quite good, especially toasted with some cream cheese and lachs. The best I've found in Switzerland so far!

Re: Bagels in Coop, Bern

We actually just had these Coop bagels for the first time this morning. They completely fell apart when you tried to cut them in half to toast them. Buried under cream cheese, lachs and red onions after putting the pieces through the toaster, they were edible, but wouldn't buy them again. The other brand we have bought before at Jelmoli (they had some American themed packaging) were much better.
