Ticino Honey

Its my birthday next week, an event I don't often celebrate, and I would love to find a local honey-maker nearby Lugano to visit on that day. And perhaps even volunteer to help in the future, a few times a month as I am interested in learning to work with bee's myself. If you know anyone please let me know!

thank-you in advance

Re: Ticino Honey

There are only three Ticinese apiculturists in tel.search. One is also mentioned on the canton's tourism website because they sell stone vases, honey and silk paintings. I'd contact this place first, good luck.

Re: Ticino Honey

Not Ticino but there is a forum member here, an English guy, who makes amazing honey in small batches near Geneva. We bought some to serve with our cheese and will be stocking it permanently soon. I can't remember his user name, but his website is www.1279honey.com

Re: Ticino Honey

that sounds perfect, if they wouldn't mind my company, but unfortunately Geneva is a little far. I'll probably attempt to get in touch anyways as I hope to end-up in Geneva (ironically)

Re: Ticino Honey

It's ME!

already spoke with a couple of you but if anyones ever in the area and would like to have a look drop me a pm.

and Mike, I've just got the new glassware - I think you're going to like it (very - authentic).

and as I said, let me know when you and your friend pass Geneva - and for the rest of you I'll let you know if the honey is a honey :-)
Paul.

Re: Ticino Honey

Hey there, thanks for linking up. And thanks for the offer, but unfortunately it didn't work out this time around. Bee-lined it for Amsterdam and wasn't going to have time for a break. If the offer is still open and you will be around for a while, perhaps we can work something out in these next months... to be honest with you I work in humanitarian intervention, with projects in agriculture and would like to explore honey-making along with a few other possibilities. I'll keep in touch.

Re: Ticino Honey

Hi Jack,
glad you liked it - by coincidence the last remnants of the years harvest are now earmarked for Mike, so I'm on empty - on a plus note I have new packaging for next year so no more plastic jars.

and it's nice to see people enjoying the fruits of my labor.

and of course congrats to Mike on the opening of the shop - on a side note when Mike was down here at the expat expo in Geneva I took some of one of the stiltons, suffice to say it lasted about 24 hours (and I damn well didn't share either!), at which point I was rather annoyed that he didn't have a shop down here.

Paul.

Re: Ticino Honey

Kelly,
almost forgot you, give me a shout in the spring (as I wont be opening the hives before mid/late February now) and we'll see when we can hook up.

Re: Ticino Honey

Ciao.

Not sure if you're still looking for Ticino honey but on the weekend, a local friend of mine was telling me about his friend who has a honey business in the hills of the Malcantone.

In case you're still looking, here is the URL for "Miele Ticino".
