Any chocolates with artificial sugar ?

Going home for vacation soon, and as usual taking loads of chocolates for family and friends. Buut my dad is diabetic. I looked at the chocolate sections in Migros and Coop, but could not find anything that is with artificial sugar. If anyone knows if and where I can get this type of chocolate (or even a bar like Balisto), that would be so helpful..

Re: Any chocolates with artificial sugar ?

hi Pickles, the Reformhaus I go to has chocolate acceptable for people with diabetes, and I've seen them in speciality chocolate shops like Merkur too.

edit: Here's the link for the Reformhaus I meant, which is on Rennweg in Zurich:
http://www.reformhaus.ch/

Ask for "Diabetikerschokolade."

Can second that, Merkur has quite a few blocks of chocolate that are marked Diabetik or Zucker frei (sugar free). We asked the lady in the shop and she took us straight to them, very helpful.

Re: Any chocolates with artificial sugar ?

I believe Coop also has chocolate for diabetics ... but it's not where the "normal" chocolate is ... instead it hides with other food suitable for special dietary needs.

Re: Any chocolates with artificial sugar ?

Hi

Lindt do a Diabetic range:
http://www.lindt.com/1610/3429/3497/3519.asp

I don't know how much you want to spend but I have been told that the 200g pralinés are nice.

I would try the shops in the listed order:

Coop City
Without "Nougat Crisp"
Manor

Globus
Primo / Vis-à-Vis
Without " Pralinés Sélection"
Merkur

Reformhaus Müller

I don't go often to Merkur but the few times I have been I have found them very very expensive.

hi

in the UK, we did not recommend special chocs for diabetics. they are expensive, full of salt and no better than a little bit of the normal stuff. try looking at www.diabetesuk.com for further info

In Coop they sell this chocolate brand named "Stella". I always buy those for my grandma because she is diabetic. They're quite good actually

Re: Any chocolates with artificial sugar ?

In Migros, you generally find the brand "Frey". Usually all chocolates from Frey have two varieties, one with and the other without sugar (Zucker frei). On the front packing, you see it written in bold in a vertical band on the left hand side, if this is the Zucker frei variety. Try the Zucker frei Giandor, it is almost as good as the real one, they say.
