| | | Bagels in Zurich Anyone?
Does anyone know where one can get a decent bagel in Zurich?
I'm a native New Yorker and am in serious bagel withdrawals. In Migros and COOP, I see cream cheese and smoked salmon. But there are no bagels in the bread aisle. What are the Swiss doing with these products?
My wife jokingly suggested I hang around the Jewish neighborhoods and asking Jewish locals. "Just because I'm ethnically Chinese, doesn't mean I'd know where the nearest Chinese restaurant is", I responded.
Any tips on where to find good bagels would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi wontonboy, not that I have been there but I have seen (somewhere on the forum) there is a place in Zurich called My Bagel.
The address is Niederdorfstrasse 41, Zurich.
Happy Bagelling! | | This user would like to thank kadie for this useful post: | |

my bagel in niederdorf is very good actually. unfortunately they're going to close their shop within the next month or two in search of a new location. they deliver now and will continue to do so without the shop but there is a minimum to order.
its the closest ive gotten to NY bagels in zurich

I actually found bagels at Coop the other day. I was with a friend who is also from NY and we almost tripped over each other rushing to get at them. They were four in a vacuum sealed pack - sesame and plain. Pretty underwhelming in terms of taste - but better than nothing.
Oh, how I miss H&H.

Yes, there are now Bagels at COOP, it's true.
I still recommend the homemade bagels at books and bagels by waffenplatz.
They're closed on Sundays, and they don't have a toaster, but the bagels are lovely and they have an assortment crem cheeses.
Enjoy

They also do great fresh squeezed juice. It's been there for ages. Buy in bulk and freeze.

OK, the bagel place at Zurich HB is open, I stumbled upon it yesterday, the one bagel I tried was even ok although they have some strange combination of flawours. "The club" bagel is bacon, egg, tomato and smoked fish ??? but there are other combos which look pretty good. this one is not bad for something that is such an awkward mix, but next time I will try something else. Unfortunetly I havent seen any herb and garlic cream chease bagels or for that matter any alldressed bagels or poppy seed. The place is called "blueberry" it almost right underneath the flying woman. it will need further investigation but in my opinion is a better value and quality than the sandwiches sold all araound. price of bagels between 5.60 and 7.70 so comparable with the sandwiches and even cheaper than a kebap.

Thanks for posting this, polishrob. I will definitely check it out because I have been missing My Bagel badly since they closed, erm, a few days ago.
It looks like it's this: http://www.blueberry-bakery.ch/sites/index.php?id_b=52
So the ubiquitous Candrian Catering conquers another inch of Bahnhof eating options | Quote: | | | | | OK, the bagel place at Zurich HB is open, I stumbled upon it yesterday, the one bagel I tried was even ok although they have some strange combination of flawours. Globus by Bellvue sometimes has them, but they are a far cry for a proper New York city sized one. There is a also a nice company called peacefoods.ch that makes good bagels and other goodies.

A thread about Bagel sightings would be great. Please try to post your findings, and reviews.
Some Migros carry a packaged bagel that isn't bad when cut in half and toasted. Or perhaps I've lowered my standard for a good nosh.

there is a shop in Bern in Länggasse when you are in the area. I was so surprised! They make sandwiches and everything!
