I'm going to wear out Google translate.
Do you have a recommendation? Low acid, but strong preferred.

BLACK POWER espresso blend is a strongly roasted , 60% premium Arabicam 40% Robusta. Africa, a wonderful continent, is the source of many things. From here come not only the aromatic Arabica coffees (Ethiopia), but also the stronger robusta coffee (Uganda). With the creation of this blend I let myself be guided by two ideas; on the one hand I wanted the very different, unite in aroma and flavor wonderfully rich coffees from Africa together in harmony, and secondly there should be a strong mixture as a direct competitor to Italian mixtures should be understood! As a specialist for varietal Arabica gourmet coffee, I was interested in a long time not especially for Robusta coffees because they are generally rather one-dimensional flavor. But even with robusta there are wonderful gourmet variations. And the last time in the tasting of new coffee I discovered a truly interesting Robusta from Uganda, which now constitutes the soul of this espresso blend.

..and here's your Blue Moutain: https://www.kaffeepur.ch/grands-crus...-mountain.html
Details
JAMAICA BLUE MOUNTAIN Grand Cru Arabica, Jamaica, Wall Ford Estate, Arabica Typica, 1800-2000 m asl Jamaica Blue Mountain is the absolute classic Grand Cru coffees, which is why the Japanese are buying up 90% of annual production. In the first class of Japan Airlines, this coffee is standard. The small farm is Wallenford Estate in Jamaica as the finest of all farms that are allowed to use the strict seal of approval "Jamacia Blue Mountain." This dictates exactly where exactly can grow the coffee, because in this region affect the existing permanently fog the growth of coffee crucial - the beans grow slower and have more time to train her perfect, round flavor. The Blue Mountain is a harmonious, balanced coffee, whose soft, slightly chocolaty flavor is very clear and balanced. Long after the last sip you feel on the palate, the large class of that coffee.

Anyway, the grand cru we easy to figure out. I didn't have to translate those. It was the price I was sighing about! But I did order 1/4kg in the end.
I ordered the Black Power, Kenya & the blue mountain.
There a few others I'd like to try, the Elephants, the Brazilians, etc. Too bad we can't order 1/2 or a 1/4 of all of them, not just the grand cru.

Any recommendations welcome. I could relegate the Philips to a spice grinder.

I also got me a new espresso machine that completed the deal and now I am not allowed to get anything coffee related for the next 20+ years
As for the grinder, it's all on the balance between the budget and the expectations, so any advice I can give will be highly subjective ... but if you want to go electric, at least try to make sure it's not one of those blade grinders, those are not worth the box they are packed in. You can get so much more even from a french press by using a good grinder, when I got my one (manual! ), the difference between the two cups blew me away.
If you want to go for the real stuff, then an electric grinder that would do the JMB justice would start at around 300CHF give or take, e.g. the Rocky Rancilio, one of those manual Kyoceras that are supposed to be really good can be ordered from the US for a bit less than $100 last time I checked, otherwise there's still eBay.

I like Pappy John. IIRC, it's el Mexicano that I used to get.
To be honesty, I'm not sure I'd notice the difference between grinders. My palate is just not that refined. I'm happy with a good coffee ground within a week or so. Just that makes enough of a difference for me to be happy. Beyond that I don't think I can tell the difference.
I used to buy the JBM already ground. I know, shocking! :P
The Kyoceras looks really cute though. There are some for much less than $100. Are they different?
This one is cute & $33. http://www.amazon.com/Kyocera-CM-50-.../dp/B003S9XF7K

Yes, El Mexicano is the one I am using now as well. I tried his "San Diego" once, but it was burned to ashes, I ended up throwing the entire bag away. However, his shop is about 5 mins of walking time from where I live, so it's incredibly convenient as compared having to go to some more distant location.
The CM-50 should be a fantastic choice for filter or french press coffee, for espresso the CM-45 is regarded higher, as it is supposedly more consistent around the fine grind end of the spectra. But I agree, the CM-50 price is hard to beat. What kind of coffee machine do you have?

That coffee grinder is looking very cute.... Have you found them in here? I found them on Amazon for 50E.
I'm afraid I've very low tech when it comes to making coffee. No machines for me. It's all analog. I use a regular moka, a cappuccino moka and a french press. But mostly through out the day when I make coffee for one I use a one cup filter like this one: http://product-images.reusablebags.c..._01_Cup_LS.jpg

All of them would produce a decent cup of coffee, and for that the CM-50 would be ideal. Just watch out for the capacity, once you have 10+ guests and they all want coffee then you'll be grinding the whole evening :-). That's the reason why I haven't scrapped my electric grinder just yet. That's my current setup on the picture, the grinder on the left is the OE Pharos.
I ordered my grinder from the US, www.orphanespresso.com for the record. I don't know where would the Kyoceras be found around here, but http://shop.freshcoffee.ch/kaffeemas...ffeemuhle.html is supposed to be on par with them also. No matter which one of these two, you definitely will notice the step-up in quality. I would be happy to do a tasting contest.
So: good grinder, freshly roasted coffee, ground within, say, a week or two from roasting if not in the freezer, used within 15 minutes of grinding, and suddenly you'll see the new universe opening up.

Not even going to show DH your machine. That's the one he wants....
Thanks for the tips.
I'll let you know when the coffee arrives.

I've got my beans! I bought a cheapy electric grinder... Sorry Juraj. The fancy hand grinder will have to wait.
Yesterday I was in Lausanne so I stopped by Pappy John's. He's moved since I was there 4 years ago. But I found him and bought my El Mexicano. Of course, that meant I missed my delivery from Kaffeepur. But I was able to pick it up this morning.
Now I have 2.75 kilos of coffee to be drunk!
Should I open the new packs before I finish the open one? Or should I wait?

I'd keep about 250g outside and throw the rest in the freezer.
OK, exemption granted, but don't forget about the grinder in the future! | | This user would like to thank Juraj_007 for this useful post: | |

If you want a less expensive decent blend for everyday La Semeuse gets my vote as well. Vacuum packed whole beans, the Moka rather than the Espresso blend is not acidic and isn't roasted overly dark, lovely blend as good as any commercial 100% Arabica I've tasted anywhere. They have done some limited edition single estate beans but I'm not sure if they took off commercially or how available they are, you'd have to check with them.
Not the same as recently freshly roasted beans, but they start losing flavour instantly anyway if not vacuum packed.
BTW, freezing at home has zero benefits and might even introduce too much moisture in the beans. You need a much colder industrial freezer to make any difference in freshness.
