It is commercialised crap which truly represents what a beige, generic society we have become.
How about you?

I love it, but it's too expensive in Switz. The reason I'll always be a loyal supporter is that the company was born in my hometown, the coffee is predictable (not top rate, but predictable), the service is very good, and they serve filter coffee. I guess it is sort of my "comfort food" which I splurge on when I'm feeling homesick.

Starbucks is a wee bit over priced for me plus it takes an age to read past all the million options to get to a normal coffee with milk.

I must admit the coffee isn't great but I like the fact they use milk rather than the UHT stuff. Plus their Frappuccinos are not bad.

She was so sweet. . . |

Hi,
I love Starbucks coffee, it is expensive but the quality is good.
What I hate in Switzerland are those people who maybe buy ONE cup of coffee and occupy the sofa for the entire day and in some cases even bring their own food.
This is in my view very antisocial and I am even paying for this as I am a genuine customer.
So yes Starbucks is good - but get rid of those space wasters who prevent real customer from enjyoing their deserved Starbucks experience.

I recently went to starbucks with my parents who were visiting from the UK we ordered 3 tall lattes and it came to 17CHF and when my dad worked that out in pounds with the current exchange rate he nearly spat all his coffee out as it was £9.50! he kept complaining it being an hours work for him for 3 coffees
Anyway I am not a huge coffee fan I don't like strong coffee so starbucks' milky lattes are fine by me although lately they do seem to be just hot milk with a hint of coffee - i prefer Latte Mochiattos (sp) elsewhere as they hae more flavour and come in nice glasses instead of horrible big mugs but the convenience and smoke free atmosphere of my local starbucks does often win at the end of the day
Nicky
P.s as Erm.... mentioned above I do love their frappucinos also in the summer I know its not PC to like starbucks but who cares...

I make it my busines not to give them mine and prefer to go to independant coffee shops that serve decent coffee and don't fleece me.

I'm American and I think it sucks. Mainly the concept of it though as you can get a decent cup of coffee there. Believe it or not, I've seen plenty of non-Americans in these establishments. There aren't enough American tourists or members of the American ex-pat community to keep these businesses running so this tells me that locals like to go to there as well (and I know plenty of locals that like Starbucks).
Same goes with McDonalds.

A pint of coffee should never cost as much as a pint of beer.

When I lived in the UK I never went to Starbucks and hated everything it stands for. However, after living here for 2 years my opinion has changed. I go there often as it's smoke free and you get friendly service. I like the coffee too!
However, what I really really want is PRET A MANGER. That would make me so happy!
