I have seen small blocks being sold at Denner. Also, on Wednesdays, there is a market at HB where people would sell bread, cheese, fresh fruits etc (not sure though if it is still around) , from where I bought some marzipan which was very nice.

As ground almonds are easy to come by here it's dead easy to make your own, and it tastes better! I used to have to shell and grind all the almonds- now that was a pain.

thanks, you dont happen to have a recipe???????????
yes, i saw it for sure at airport migros... only i cannot remember if it was by refrigerator counter, close to the already made pastry dough or in the freezer part. It was an huge block...
I've tried the Denner marzipan. I wasn't impressed. I haven't tried the other recommended brands here- they might be fantastic.
I don't have my pastry book with the handy dandy recipes here yet, but try googling it- there are loads out there. I prefer cooked marzipan to uncooked, since I always seem to get it much smoother with aid of the heat, though its definitely not children friendly!
I also sometimes replace any superfluous seeming liquid ingredients (like water) with orange blossom water, or rose water, or lavender water. Transforms something fairly dull into something decadent.
Hello,
I am going to France in the next few days. I think Marzipan is equal to, but not 100% sure to Pate de Amande. If so I can pick you up some for about next to nothing.
