General Tso's Chicken

Hi everyone

I was surprised to learn, upon arriving in Europe, that General Tso's Chicken doesn't seem to be a staple of Chinese food here. Apparently it's a North American invention: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Tso's_chicken

Of course, having said that, I still have the hope that some enterprising soul has brought it to Zürich somewhere along the line. Have any of you seen this dish while out and about?

Thanks!
Lance

Yes....I know one place

There is a Chineese/Asian restaurant on Langstrasse that has "General Tso's Poulet" I dont know the name of it or comment if its any good. It is on the corner of Langstrasse and Badenerstrasse....maybe 20-30 meters into langstrasse and on the same side as the Coop Pronto.

Be warned if you are expecting spicy, the food here in Switzerland is extremely bland and "hot" does not mean hot. This seems to be the case whether its european food or foreign food. The Buffallo wings at Hooters (also on Langstrasse), are quite mild and not nearly as good as the US ones....

Re: General Tso's Chicken

Excellent, thanks for the tip! I'll check it out next weekend.

I guess I should have put in a caveat saying that I've lived in Switzerland long enough for my spice tolerance to reduce to Swiss standards, so no, not expecting anything quite as hot as back in the US. ;-) And the Hooters here is truly horrible, but I find myself going back repeatedly as it's the closest thing to a decent American sports bar in the area.

Thanks for the tip!

Re: General Tso's Chicken

I prefer sesame chicken with some big bright green broccoli. On top of the right white rice? Perfect.
