I think there is also a resident on EF offering "real" bacon - ask Colin or search for Bacon and english on the search function...

Just curious why British visitors to Switzerland would expect a perfectly British breakfast. How about a nice Swiss breakfast including freshly baked Gipfeli and the like? |

| | | Where can I buy real Bacon?
Where can I buy real Bacon, not American streaky... but real bacon?
I went into the very well stocked and wonderfully diverse Carfour at Val Thiory the other day. I was very impressed.... but I need an egg and bacon sandwich on a Saturday morning and I couldn't find a decent rasher anywhere. Lardons are great in pasta and streaky very nice over a Turkey but both can't quite cut the Mustard.
Any helpers?

Plenty of info if you do a search, this type of question obviously comes up reasonably often on an English forum http://www.englishforum.ch/search.php?searchid=4505608 |

I also love my bacon ...... and have found the most tasty bacon (Frühlingspek) at Swiss Metzgerei`s (Butcher shop) ..... it doesnt look like much, but very very tasty! Just enough fat left over to fry the eggs in.
Find a small village and look for the local Metzger......

By English bacon, is that the big slices of Shoulder?.. not much fat?
One can go insane trying to find things one is used to ...... and I just settled on this, as opposed to tasteless other stuff .. and smoked other stuff ...... After a few years here you hardly suffer at all! (oooohhhhh for a piece of Boerewors with fried eggs.....)
