Looking for a berry patch to pick our own fruit

Has anyone gone to a berry farm, in the Zurich area (or not too far from Zurich) to pick their own berries? I am also looking for an orchard for later in the season. I am having a hard time trying to search this on the internet.

You're a bit late for berries. The season for strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, currants etc. is already past. In season there are PYO all around the countryside.

As for orchards, now is the right time. Again, many farms out of the city are advertising apples, pears and of course Most (apple juice) right now. It's also the tail end of the Zwetschgen season now.

What month does berry picking usually start?

Can anyone suggest some good areas close to Luzern?

Kind regards,

Charde

led me to Beeren, Früchte und Blumen selber pflücken auf Schweizer Bauernhüfen, which is presumably intelligible to those who read German. Google Translate tells me that Beeren is, alas, unrelated to beer

On the topic, I just read an amusingly curmudgeonly piece on Against Apple Picking, subtitled "Why pick-your-own orchards are a wasteful scam":
Quote:
Every autumn, as the leaves change and brisk winds banish all remnants of summer, many of us head to the country to participate in a feel-good seasonal tradition: apple picking. But as Daniel Gross argues in this article from October 2006, it's delusional to think that the activity is good for the environment, farmers, or the economy. Apple picking may be a satisfying ritual and pleasant day out with the kids, but it's also a wasteful scam.
Not terribly profound (superficial, perhaps?) but an interesting contrarian read.
