| | | Gourmesse - Zürich, October 9th - 12th
Gourmesse is a gourmet food exhibition at the Zürich Kongreshaus from Friday 9th - Monday 12th October. It's aimed at both the trade (restaurants and delis etc) but also the public. Lots of cooking demonstrations from top chefs, free tastings of speciality foods, wine and whisky etc. and seminars.
Lots of exhibitors from Italy this year and I'll be there representing Cropwell Bishop Stilton and British Cheese in general.
Home page is here (only in German)
The seminars and other info are listed on this pdf catalogue
The show is organised by Salz & Pfeffer magazine

A small bump. We will be on stand 127 and Sunday afternoon I will be hosting a Seminar from 1.30 - 2.30 to explain why British Cheese has a bad reputation (with some people) and why it's not deserved!
We will have 10 Irish and almost 40 British cheeses to try including 5 very different cheddars, 10 different Blues and a big selection of sheep and goat milk cheeses, and Bob will be supplying some of his real ale to wash the cheese down.

Mr Richdog... were you standing in the queue a long time before you realised? I did see your original comment on my phone in London and didn't have time to reply. Hope to see you there this weekend

Not really. I already back in autumn 1972 in London realized that standard Cheddar just is like Emmenthaler without holes. |

Bump. End of day one and I'm exhausted, but loads of really good food and drink stands including free beer. I'm sandwiched between a champagne stand and a chap selling (an giving free tastings) of real Canadian maple syrup. SwissBob informs me that there is a top curry stand on the ground floor, must try to find time for that tomorrow.

Gah one of my Gourmesse partners has selfishly gone on holiday this weekend, and the other has a cold and won't leave the house. I don't want to miss out on sheeps cheese and real ale... was anyone thinking of trundling down by themselves?
EDIT - Food croney found. Im hungry now and am going to make sure I am near-starving by the time I go, think i'll get there for 12:30 or so. Must buy sheep cheese... *drool*

<snip>
to explain why British Cheese has a bad reputation (with some people)
<snip> | | | | | My German girlfriend calls English cheese Kinderkäse. Probably my own fault for importing bogstandard Waitrose mild White Stilton and Apricots and Wensleydale and cranberries this time for a change.
I need to offer some variety going though and not just keep pointing to vintage mature cheddar for a great cheese.
But I didn't know English cheese had a particularly bad reputation. I used to think England produced the best hard cheese there was, but then I discovered Italy.
