Your search for Marmite is over

hi

If anyone is looking for that special LOVE IT OR HATE IT spread in central Zurich, worry no more. 'Gertner Wine' who has a lovely wine and fine food shop opposite Terrase restaurant and bar on Limmat will order you your very own supply. He will also provide you with some good chat whilst you make your purchase. Let him know that Ellie sent you

ENJOY

Re: Your search for Marmite is over

I found the proper stuff in Coop on Bahnhofstrasse in Zurich.
Admittedly it was the smallest jar they make, and it was 5.20chf, but hey-ho!

Re: Your search for Marmite is over

Maybe it's just my tastebuds, but I have this theory that the smaller the jar of Marmite, the saltier the contents are. Big jar = smooth, small jar = packed by Salty the Seal I reckon.

Re: Your search for Marmite is over

YOU PEOPLE ARE LEGENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i've had three jars of my beloved confiscated, accidently thrown out (because it "smelled off," no, that's how it's supposed to be), and one used for paint.

I need a solid supply, getting it sent from Nu Ziland is a missh.

so. who's found pineapple lumps yet??

Re: Your search for Marmite is over

It appears Unilever have discovered that local tastes need to be satisfied in other markets!!

Marmite in Zurich, Aromat in Manchester........whatever next pot noodle in Paris????

PS as well as making bloody good beer Burton upon Trent also whiffs of marmite from time to time.........same base ingredient.

Re: Your search for Marmite is over

I arrived in Switzerland today, and between a sleepless night (we landed in Amsterdam just before midnight by my internal clock), jet lag and an unfamiliar supermarket I did a lot of searching for a few items. Guess what I found ... Marmite!!!!! A medium jar for CHF 4.50. And that was at the Coop City in Sion, hardly a major expat center.

For the first time ever I went into a Coop Pronto (there are none in my usual Alpine villages) ... open to 22:00 just as I learned from the EF!!

Tomorrow is likely to be rainy, will restart my blog (maybe).

Re: Your search for Marmite is over

have you tried Cenovis, the Swiss version? Different taste but we quite like it.

If in the Jura- pop in and say hello. Otherwise just whistle with the marmots at Ferpècle or Arolla for me

Hi Odile,

I have absolutely no interest in Marmite, Vegemite or Cenovis ... just posted the comment due to the interest others have in it

Will send you a PM a few days before going to Bienne, would be nice if we could meet. I willl not have a car.

I have to say I like Cenovis. In fact, I think I may prefer it to Marmite possibly because it's different. Sometimes I prefer Vegemite...

Try Cenovis, it's good stuff.
