Chef, it really does depend on what ingredients you're looking for. African, Asian, Eastern European, South American, Mexican? List out the ingredients and we'll try to help you. I pretty much find everything I need for my cooking in CH.

This shop in Zurich has the most fantastic variety of Asian and Indian spices and raw ingredients, plus huge frozen seafood section.

My favorite shop for exotic ingredients.

Re: Where to find unusual ingredients?

There is a pretty good pan-Asian store underneath the Sihl-Quai/Hauptbanhof station. You go down the stairs and it is on your right. They may have the ingredients that you are looking for. THere is also a Thai market about 50m from this same tram stop. Not sure what it is called, but it is on the corner of the street that parallels the train tracks. Will try to find the name/address.
