Yum! And where did you get poppy seeds in Zurich?

You can get poppy seeds in a 50g pack in Migros and Coop. Blau Mohnsamen or just Mohnsamen in German.

Hi Nic80,
Great job with the cake!!

May I ask if you followed the recipe of the Swiss meringue frosting? Because I tried to make it, wit very little sucess. Beating the egg whites over the boiling water didnt work out, and they didnt get stiff.

The Martha Stewart's birthday cake I made for a friend this weekend. It's a 4 layer vanilla sponge, covered in almond Swiss meringue buttercream and then covered in Swiss meringue

Not quite the meringue up there.... but today I made rhubarb meringue pie which I just cannot wait to eat (but it's for pudding so will have to wait a bit longer!!)

I followed the recipe exactly (other than making it GF and not adding almond essence to anything but the frosting).

I used a whisk to beat the egg-whites over the boiling water and they fluffed and stiffened up perfectly. It takes quite a while though, long enough for your arm to get sore and the egg-whites to get 'hot'.

That simple meal (chicken leg+mashed potatoes+mushrooms) turns into something special when you bake/serve it in such a "bag" :
