Beef Jerky - Swiss and mail order

Traitafina will ship it to your door at a reasonable price.

I've tried it and it's not bad. And it's from a renewable source

The prices they quote include free delivery in Switzerland.

If you buy it, come back and rate it. Give some background.

Re: Beef Jerky - Swiss and mail order

I had some beef jerky from a petrol station shop recently, imported from the US, different flavours. I tried chilli, wasn't very good and artificially flavoured it seemed. But I've now seen it at several petrol stations, I'd look there first.

Forgive them father, for they know not what they do.

Re: Beef Jerky - Swiss and mail order

Years ago I was told that a butcher's shop in Chur makes beef jerky, American style, but I don't know any details. I prefer the Appenzell version, a.k.a. Mostbröckli.

Re: Beef Jerky - Swiss and mail order

We love beef jerky, and sometimes buy it from our gym. Today (incredible timing), I saw it in Coop, and it is their own brand...and it is pretty good.

I think I paid 5.40chf for 50g, so not such a deal. Especially since the stuff imported from the US is the same price.

Wow...22.50chf for 50g?!? Did i miss something? I thought 5.40chf was high and I get it for 30% of the price in the US.

5 x 50g, do keep up, I know the site's in dodgy foreign lingo but it's mid 80s per kilo

Considering the fact that raw beef is more than 10 times cheaper in the USA, 30% of the Swiss price is still pretty stout. I think jerky is the most expensive way to buy cheap beef in the USA.

Re: Beef Jerky - Swiss and mail order

We've been picking up beef jerky at Manor, they have a variety of flavors including some flavored with Alpen / Appenzell herbs. That one is very tasty!

Re: Beef Jerky - Swiss and mail order

I've had it from various stores in Switzerland over the last 4 years, but mostly petrol stations (as mentioned above, they do have it in coop too). Unfortunately, I find that it's not very good - somehow, it seems a lot stringier than the stuff back in the US. Then again, it's been 4 years since I've been there, so my memory might be a bit colored...

I just bought some of that Coop naturaplan bio Swiss Beef Jerky, yes it's not bad but in my opinion it could be a bit drier. I also prefer beef jerky to be a tad spicy but the Swiss Beef Jerky has no punch to it at all.

Re: Beef Jerky - Swiss and mail order

Today I bought some beef jerky from the Migros. It was marked as a new product. I really enjoyed it, but I am not from the US, so far from an expert.

I had some of the Coop Swiss beef jerky.... what a waste of 6 chfs, like a greasy lino tile, I'll be sticking to the proper US stuff.
