Hi,
I'm looking for a Christmas dinner turkey solution. My mum said M&S have fabulous ready prepared turkey.

I've heard there is an M&S half and hour over the German boarder from CH. Can anyone please tell me where it is????

Turkey's are anyway so expensive here - I think I'd be willing to pay the extra in petrol and have a little adventure and Weinachts markt visit at the same time.

I have never bought a very expensive turkey here. Evey year i get a fresh one about 8 to 10lbs from coop and pay similar to what i'd pay in the UK. I also think cooking a whole one is much nicer than the M&S crowns. The endless turkey sarnies for a week after xmas is the best thing about xmas - and then not forgetting the obligatory turkey soup from the carcass

There is, or used to be, an M&S in Strassbourg. Whether there still is, and whether it has a food hall or not, I've no idea.

M&S pulled out of France many years ago.

I thought as much, but wasn't sure. I was last there in 1996 after all.

M & S currently doesn't have any stores in Germany, France, Italy or Austria. The nearest one to Zurich may be in Ceské Budejovice in the Czech Republic, but that's a 7-hour drive from here...

And even then the OP may not get their appetisingly sounding, "Christmas dinner turkey solution."
The Czechs may not see the point of it.

Why not just do as the other posters do - buy a turkey, season, baste, chuck it in the oven and have a glass of champagne.
I bet you still need to cook the M and S one.

P.S. If you decide to stuff it (the turkey, that is), make the stuffing the day/night before, chuck it in the fridge and then you don't need to waste time making it on Christmas morning.

Oh dear, do I detect a bit of "first turkey of my life" concern?
It isn't all that difficult... the stuffing is a joy to make - yummy and delish... and if you make it yourself, you can include most of your favourite things! sausage? check. Corn bread? check. Chestnuts? check... or not! if you make it as it INSPIRE you, it will be personal, your own - and you will be creating your own traditions, not M&S...
Just one line of caution - tell your local migrosh or goop that you want a turkey of such and such size... otherwise you can bet that it will be sold out when you want it.

I'll bet that people will ask you your secret stuffing recipe

Nah, you are right. We buy live carps from the street and traditionally have them in our tubs for three days before our dads kill it and moms fry it. Yes, it is true.

There are a number of M&S back home in Czech, I just realized. Weird. There is one 5mins from my house and 3 or 4 more in the same city.

The Geneva one has long gone.
