Re: Your favourite Swiss supermarket-bought cheese

Okay (chest out ready to be shot!!), the best supermarket cheese is Migros Budget Hartkäse (purple lable) for an every day cheese on sandwiches or by itself. The amount of Swiss friends who have asked what it is (you must hide the packaging b4 they arrive) upon finding out they are amazed (well they wouldn't buy it themselves) speaks for itself.

I love the cheeses here but don't like the "did someone vomit in my fridge" smell (but that is a story for another thread!!).

I'll eat any cheese so long as it's not Emmentaler. I love any cheese (a lot) but for some reason can't find any affection for the humble Emmentaler. I've tried it in all its forms but I just can't get to like it.

Currently stocked up with Vacherin Mont d'Or, a racy Gruyere, a Luzerner Rahmkäse and some Austrian smoked stuff which goes pretty well with a glass of beer.
I quite like the "Emmentaler Mild", except for the deplorable fact that you get the holes charged twice !

As I don't care for Emmentaler either, maybe I'll just eat the holes like a poor mouse. They would certainly be good for a diet.
