things to do with CHF 10 - go buy this wine

nice to find a good wine below CHF 10. here's one in jelmoli's movenpick section. get it while you can -

'dunkles purpur' sounds about right. it is dark-fruit but without being cloying or sweet. i just had it with a spicy chicken and vegetable stir-fry with cayenne pepper and garlic and tamari, and it was a great wine for that kind of powerful-flavor meal.

any other low-end cost but good wines around right now?

At Coop, you can buy a Royal Kadir Tunisie (1L) for CHF 3.30 or for 3.15 a bottle (1L) of Alta Sierra Jumilla from Spain. Both are good and can be recommended.

What have 1 litre wines for a little over Chf 3.-- got to do with bottles of wine costing nearly Chf 16.-- ? (apart from the fact they are both probably made from grapes)

I was brought up to believe that if you can't think of anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all ...

This has been the opening post
""" nice to find a good wine below CHF 10.- """

and the two wines ARE made from grapes.

Try Corvo, a Sicilian red from Denner, 7.95fr per bottle, a real steal...

Sorry but a litre of wine for 3 francs has got to be terrible I assume this post is for those on the streets.

My point was you need to compare what is comparable and i find it very difficult to believe a wine that normaly retails for Chf 15.80 albeit currently on offer at Chf 9.80 can be compared to a litre of industrial wine at Chf 3.15 or 3.30.

You can always buy something cheaper, but then is this really the objective ?

Re: things to do with CHF 10 - go buy this wine

One would hope that both wines are made from grapes - but these days, who knows?

That said, I think the suggestion is a good post - we all know that in the end, one gets what one pays for. or less, if you live in Switzerland...
Lets not be too negative! we all know that there is a difference, it is all relative; but maybe on occasion one can be looking for a cheap wine? sometimes the cheap stuff is awful. Good to know that one is not so. We are not planning a blind tasting!!!
