Re: Missing the danish quality milk and dark bread..

I fell in love with a Danish once...

Seriously though... hard to believe that milk could be better than in Switzerland. When I buy German milk I have to spit it out and dump the carton, reminding myself of what a fool I was for having forgotten how awful it is. And when I go back to the States I have to switch back to soy milk just so I can get my vitamins. Switzerland really does have good milk. And it goes good with a Danish. nom nom nom

Actually, you can get good milk in Germany. Try for example the Berchtesgardner Land Demeter which they sell in Edeka (the one in the bottle, the carton version isn't as good for some reason). It's largely on par with Swiss milk but costs at least three times as much (so much for Germany being cheap)

I actually knew some expats who were always surprised when anyone mentioned how much they love Swiss milk. It turned out they only bought UHT for years and never even realized you could by fresh milk in the refrigerated section.

I find Swiss milk to be good so far - almost as good as New Zealand milk, which we all know is the best in the world.

You wanna quick Dansk fix?
Ikea has a shop, Svensk by nature but there are one or two Dansk thingys that will get the Danneborg in you flying.
Just got me two tubes of crabpaste, gonna have that on crackers tonight.

Yep. Also, I hate how everything here is sold in tetra-packs or plastic bottles.
Milk from bottles tastes much better - unfortunately, the only place selling milk in bottles here is Egli - and that one is fresh milk (not heated, not homogenized - an absolute dream in taste, almost like fresh from the cow), which rarely lasts three days before it goes sour. I don't drink that much milk anymore.
I could buy their half-litre bottles, but it's just too much hassle to go shopping for milk every other day... I don't have the time for that anymore.
