I think there is a tint of something in the tap water in zurich. I am not exactly sure what it is...salt?? I am used to the cold tap water in iceland, and honestly, nothing is comparable to it. The hot tap water in IS is a whole different story though..

the "something" simply is limestone. It in Zurich would be far worse without the 50% from the lake

I gave up on Brita filters and now simply pour the boiling water through a tea strainer, which catches all the crunchy bits.

It's lo-tech, but devilishly effective.
Effective on the "GoldCoast" and in the Canton-of-Congo, where the stones around are Granite, but insufficient on the "West-Coast" or around Züri-Nord where the stones are limestone everywhere. And where as in Glattbrugg, tap-water tends to be diluted limestone or in German "Kalk-Light" !

I'm listening........ (I'm quite handy with a hammer and duct tape. )

Do these things actaully work though? Anybody have any experience with one? Anybody else in the Thalwil area have the same problem?
Thalwil ? .... is between Lachen and Zürich, and so it is right on the Western "Moräne" resulting from this here

meaning that the so called "Zimmerberg" is at least 70% limestone !

THIS here below

shows how Thalwil looked like !
