There are also nasty fish tape worms, a mate got it because from eating sushi.
Imagine those worms eat your brain and other parts of your body, I have seen pictures were a worm was living inside the eye, blocking his hosts view.
This "Fuchsbandwurm" is indeed a deadly parasite and not the same as the intestinal tapeworm as mentioned before.
It is more akin to a liver fluke.
Washing is the only way to get rid of the eggs in the faeces (on leaves) - cooking apparently does not harm them!??!
