| | | | Fast Food - what's your favourite? What would you like to see in CH?
Well, there've been a couple of threads recently focussing on purveying different types of fast food. I think fast food or in fact street food is amazing - firstly it's normally very tasty, but also can reflect a local culture in a way that other food settings cannot. However, there are probably some delights I haven't heard of and certainly many I'd like to taste. So tell me, what are your favourites?
My favourite is the humble burger, shown here from In-and-out, animal style 3x3. | | The following 7 users would like to thank for this useful post:

Oh and white castle burgers.

There is an Indian fast food chain called Kebabish in the UK which I really miss. They do chicken or lamb tikka rolls, pakoras, onion bahjis, spit roasted tandoori chickens, curries, fluffy naans etc.. all at the end of a phone line.

Taco Bell. But luckily Coop has everything to make your own tacos at home...the thing I really miss is CHEDDAR CHEESE. Especially Dubliner Irish Cheddar. It's the best and as far as I know, nothing like it in CH.

hahaha. back home we had a lot of kfc's- being the bronx it wasn't so much kentucky fried chicken, but still cheaper kennedy fried chicken, king fried chicken and kansas fried chicken. greasier, cheaper and always served behind the bullet proof glass.
i think i'll never be able to relive that here in ch.
but damn, that greasy chicken was good.
oh, and i'd take a white castle for that once a year run... |

Your traditional freshly fried Fish & Chips from a proper Fish & Chip shop.
Those Fat Chips (not covered in salt) and that Cod Fish (or Haddock for more taste) encased in oily/greasy batter.
However, eating on the hoof (eating a burger whilst walking) or drinking on the hoof; I find is so unsophisticated and unnecessary. |

The fast food I miss more than any other is sushi. In Australia it is so easy to grab an 8cm long fresh salmon roll for about $2. I LCD on these through uni and grad school.
Also I really miss being able to walk down the road to the local Thai restaurant and get a decent feed for $10. Yum
asian takeaway us eitger rubbish or overpriced here, which is a real pity
where is this pub?
and for that matter has anyone tried the fish and chips at the James Joyce in Zurich? I saw they had it on the menu there. | Quote: | | | | | This is the fish and chips at my favourite pub in the world - amazing

Very easy: Döner Kebab! I know there is a shop at pretty much any corner of Zurich pretending to sell it... but I have seen a funny program on the German TV lately: The control of the "Ordnungsamt" was checking restaurants in Berlin for cleanliness, alcohol licenses and other rules and there I learned: the **** they serve here would be illegal in Germany!
In order to call it Döner Kebab in my home, it has to be meat, stacked in layers on a grill. Minced meat is only acceptable if it is a minor ingredient, less than 20%. Here it is 100% and comes usually not directly from the grill, but some box where the cut minced meat is kept luke-warm. This does not only taste ******, it must be the best breeding ground for bacteria ever invented... and do not get me started that they want 10 CHFs for that.
So: A Kebab made out of proper meat which is grilled on a flaming gas grill and comes directly from the stick... with fresh salad, onions and spices topped with a good yogurt sauce.
P.S: If you really believe you have found that place in ZH, please share!
