Good luck for your opening day Grumpy. Have a great day and enjoy yourself.
I wish I could be there.
(Actually I don't, 'cos I'll be somewhere nicer. But if I wasn't somewhere nicer with people I love loads then I wish I could be there. Maybe. If there isn't much on telly.)
P.S. Does the pie shop next door do mushy peas?

It's a fabulous day for it! If you're not down there, you should definitely go.
The atmosphere is really nice and relaxed, despite being quite busy; the Josefwiese is great fun for the children - so many creative ideas. Try the Bio-Säuliwurst (organic sausages) that they're making fresh outside - straight onto the grill. My son was fascinated and spent a long time watching them.
I sent a few people your way, Grumpy - not that you needed them
It was great to stock up on cheese and I talked Mr C into having steak & guiness pies for supper.

I had lamb and mint for lunch and the other half had the beef and guiness Delicious! Will definately be having more. Got some of that lovely Isle of Mull cheddar for supper. Will be visiting to buy pies and cheese on a regular basis I think.

I am coming to the VIADUKT, but to check out THE YOUNG GODS at 8pm.
If you are closing up you should come too, they are excellent.

Sorry we didnt get to say hello Grumpy, which is a good thing because your store was absolutely heaving! Your handsome assistant was doing a great job too. Congratulations on the opening! I am also loving the Pie shop next to Grumpy's. The chicken tikka masala pie was yummy and hubby got the beef pie which he lurrved. We even bought a large pork and apple pie for dinner.
For all you sashimi lovers, check out the fish counter at the end. 68CHF per kg for sushi quality tuna and salmon sashimi. Beats paying 15-18 CHF per plate of 6 miserable pieces in any Japanese restaurant.
The Marsano flower shop which has good quality flowers compared to the usual Blume 3000 shops, is also having 20% off for the week!
PS: mirfield, no mushy peas in the Pie shop unfortunately.

Well I've just returned from the Viaduk Market - incredible! There's a bar there, awesome smelling bbq'd sausages, a great little Italian gourmet stall (I bought chanterelles in vinegar...) and Grumpy's stall is like his Wednesday market stall on steroids - it's three times as big and he must have 25 different cheeses on offer. Various tastings meant I found a new favourite cheese....anyway...get down there before you miss Zurich's best food event.

Does everything shake due to the trains? Seems like a really cool place. I would love to have a flat inside those arches.

Nothing too serious, but perceptible and maybe not a good move for light sleepers.

Stopped in tonight around 7pm. GG and our own Uncle Max looked like Whirling Dervaish's (not that Darvaish!). Hopefully they will get to relax and have a beer(SSSS) pretty soon. It looked like one heckuvanopening day!
Good job!

Wow! Where do I start? Thanks everyone for coming down a supporting us and for spreading the word if you couldn't make it. For the first 10 hours (apart from a 5 min lull at lunch) we had a queue of up to 20 people and the 3 of us were flat out. I made my target by 1pm so the boss is very happy! If it hadn't been for an emergency delivery by the MIL late on we would have run out of Stilton.
But the most important part for me is the realisation that Zurich really needed this market. It's the first purpose built indoor food market in Switzerland and the locals loved it. Also, unlike many other markets and events we go to, the locals in the most part were not surprised that we were selling British cheese here. "we know you make great cheese and it is just fantastic that we can now buy it in Zurich" was a typical comment.
No rest for me as were at the expat expo in ZH today and back at Viadukt 8am Monday. It'll be interesting to see how it goes mid week.
Come down after work, it's worth it for the bar alone. Opening hours for the market are 8-8 6 days a week but the and restaurant stay open much later.

We started with Swisspea's tour at 10, spent a few hours at the park by the Viadukt, drinking beer and enjoying the great weather, and when we returned to Grumpy's stall, it was still crowded. The couple in front of us got the last of something (tasting notes of apricot?), but we still got our Garlic Yarg.

Well done Grumpy! We were there late morning with Flow23 and it was jumping, glad all the effort was worth it Mr G. The market market and the shops leading up from Hardbrucke bahnhof were great too and not a H&M or Starbucks in sight. So we left with some nice cheeses and other foodstuffs and some clothes for Mama G. I think it's a great venue, with some good little eateries and well worth the trip.

We had a great day down there. Unfortunately the pie shop had run out of pies but we managed to secure a couple of pasties for lunch which went down very well, they also had jars of old fashioned English sweets (rhubarb and custard)
What with grumpy's cheese, pies/pasties, the fact the bar sells Pimms and all the other lovely food establishments I think we'll be heading down there on a regular basis.
Well done to Grumpy and your team for all your hard work, you looked busy all day and were one of the few stalls still doing a roaring trade late into the evening that we could see. I hope that business continues to be as sucessful for you in the future.
