Re: Zurich Viaduct Market

A few of the individual shops are already open - we took a walk through there last weekend to have a look. It looks great!

The Markthalle is due to open in September 2010... I can't wait!

Zackly! and Highland beef as well...
That's why waiting until September is going to be so difficult... however, I did hear that the ale, unfortunately, is off, as brewing in Uetikon is no longer.

I would really like to, as the combination is basically irrestistible. And as you have addressed me as "young lady", I will redouble my faith-keeping efforts...

Re: Zurich Viaduct Market

Some of the arches shops are already open, but the Market Hall is not due to open until early September. A lot of the stalls (us included) will be serving food ready to eat at lunchtime (apart from restaurants there's not much in the area apart from a Migros).

The market hall is the covered area where the 2 train lines meet on this impression.

The architects are calling our "Island" the "British Aisle". Don't give up on ale, that and cider may well be still available.....

I know one of the other stalls will be the girls who run the Strudel Hut next to us at the HB market, their Kirsch cake is the best cake in the world and the American style cheese cake is just about as good as Peace Foods.

So Mike - That puts you a block away from our flat...looks like lots of British cheese coming our way. Welcome to the neighborhood. Did you say you open in Sept?

Re: Zurich Viaduct Market

Grumpy, this might be a stupid question, but when the Market hall goes live in September will you still be doing the HB Market on Wednesdays? Better to know this now than when I turn up at the HB on a Wednesday in September only to find that my favourite purveyor of all things cheese is no longer there.

While we're asking stupid questions, will the Market Hall be open on Saturdays also?

Re: Zurich Viaduct Market

I knew about the cheese and pies, and had been holding out hope for the ale, but the fantastic strudel stand is also going to be there? As my foodie friends say, this is going to be very, very dirty.....

Re: Zurich Viaduct Market

Hi Slaphead. The plan is to run both, at least until Christmas, no point in giving up the HB now that we are well known there. Just quite how we will manage we don't quite know yet.

The Viadukt will be open Saturdays, in fact 8-8 6 days a week. I doubt I'll get bored.
