Re: where to buy bottled soda water in ZH?

No help to Walter (sorry), but while I was looking I came across this site which seems to have all our favourite foreign pops - in fact pretty much everything except soda water.

Just curious, what do you like to mix with your soda water/club soda?
I use it to make "Spritz" for the Missus and myself (and as aperitif for tomorrow night Grub Club dinner (plug plug plug... )

it's a typical Venetian aperitif, every bar in Venice has its own recipe, but the (rough) guidelines are 1/5 Campari, 2/5 white wine, 2/5 soda water, slice of orange and a brined green olive (un-rinsed).

Legal disclaimer: the above mentioned drink is HIGHLY addictive...

The closest thing I've found is the Valser Classic. It still goes flat slightly before club soda, but the bubbles (and taste) are almost the same. You can get it at any grocery store....
Ok, in case anyone else is looking for soda water... I'm giving a try to Valser Classic as I type and, although not exactly the same, is as close as I could find...

So, until der SChweiz gets dragged kicking and screaming into the modern age and start selling proper soda water in bottles , I think that Valser is going to be as good as it gets.

BTW, thanks everyone for the suggestions, I'll buy you a beer next time

Re: where to buy bottled soda water in ZH?

I was in the London Store in Zug today so asked Eric the owner if he sold soda water as I would not mind some myself. He did not have any but has added it to the "wish list", if more people ask for it he will order some.

As someone who owns (and uses daily) a sodaclub machine, I thank you kindly for this recipe.

Re: where to buy bottled soda water in ZH?

I know exactly what you are looking for. I have searched everywhere for it and not been able to find it. Resorted to buying soda fountain and adding a small amount of bicarb (from the baking goods section of the supermarket) or San Pellegrino as someone else suggested above.

Would be really interested to know if you find it.

Re: where to buy bottled soda water in ZH?

The search for "Soda Water in Zürich" brought me to this bit of
information I may share?

http://www.wisegeek.com/topics/drinking-soda-everyday.htm

"Soda is one of society’s favorite beverages. Each year, billions of gallons of soda are sold in the United States alone. Though it is popular with men, women, and children, many experts believe drinking soda may have serious health consequences.

Some studies have suggested a link between drinking soda and obesity. Soda is high in sugar and calories. Combined with its practically nonexistent nutritional value, soda may cause drinkers to pack on the pounds without receiving even the smallest nutritional benefit. Surprisingly, drinking diet soda has been linked to weight gain as well. However, some experts assert that obesity may be caused not by drinking soda, but by the combination of drinking soda and leading a sedentary lifestyle."

Re: where to buy bottled soda water in ZH?

Most airliners use them for business and first class so I assume they must have a supplier in CH somewhere...

You are confusing the US word for what we Brits call pop with soda water. Soda water is not fattening .
