| Hi There
I am thinking of buying an ice-creme machine. Just wantd to know if its worth it, or will it be sitting in my cupboard just like the foot massage machine is sitting. Last week had a home made yoghurt ice-creme at a friend`s house and now am very tempeted to buy one too.
Thanks for reading n sharing your experience. | |

How much you use it will, of course, depend entirely on you, but there's no denying the quality of product you can get if you do use it regularly.
One important thing which held me back from buying one until recently - nearly all of them (not including the ones with built-in freezers that cost from several hundred francs upwards) require that the entire bowl is kept in the freezer for 12-24 hours before use, and it basically takes up so much space you'll need a bigger freezer to accommodate it.
Eventually found one, from Philips, that just uses a cold disk on the bottom of the bowl, so it takes up much less space, and effectively means that you can leave it in the freezer so the machine can be used at any time, whereas the whole bowl options really need you to think about it a day in advance, which is why, I suspect, so many people end up leaving them in a cupboard after the first few uses. The disk can, I now found, be purchased separately to allow multiple uses without neededing to wait until it's refrozen.

Does it work? Yes, it works very well indeed.
Do we use it? Well, yes. sometimes. when we have guests.
One other interesting point to note: lots of recipes are available now, including all the Ben and Jerry's range, many of which don't require you to make up a custard base in advance. Worth experimenting a bit with different methods.
