Re: Looking for fresh Hummus

Besides the one at Sihl City, the BIG Coops, ie, Hinwil and Dietlikon, sell a very yummy hummus in the refrigerated fish section, with the smoked salmon. Good and much less expensive than other places...

Hey rob1, I've just sent someone to the Basel SBB market to buy some, but she couldn't find any...
She says she practically went from stand to stand and asked them where are they selling the Hummus and they claim they never heard of anyone actually selling the stuff over there.

I guess the the guy took a day off, huh? How unlucky can you get?

oh really bad, my GF bought some from a small stall there about 3 or 4 weeks ago, maybe the guy wasnt there or only comes on tuesdays..

Re: Looking for fresh Hummus

Today I discovered that Tibits in Winterthur sells quite good hummus, they also do take-away. Actually, now when I found their webpage, I see that they are also in Zurich, Bern and Basel. But since it's a restaurant, it will be probably more expensive than simply getting it from Coop. They sell everything with a flat ~4CHF/100g rate.

Re: Looking for fresh Hummus

Migros changed their Hummus supplier a few months ago, the same company makes Tzatziki and Taramosalata for them. They come in little plastic tubs, and are superb, very high quality and authentic.

The hummus comares favourably to almost any I've tried or made myself using fresh ingredients; they use a lot of tahini paste which is unusual in industrial brands. Unfortunately they don't sell proper Pita bread, just those lousy Pita pockets. I end up going to the Coop for good Lebanese style pita bread. I have seen good Pita at Migros in some city outlets, though, just not up here in the mountains.

Noticed just a couple of days ago that our local Coop is stocking tahini for the first time- not sure if anyone has made hummus with this?

Hello,

I wasn't able to find any previous threads that could fully answer this question.

I am looking for a store which sells fresh Hummus. Not the raw chickpeas and not preserved in a tin can. I'm talking about the real thing. Fresh.
From the practical perspective, I'm looking for places near the following locations: in Basel center or in Zurich near Zurich HB, Dietikon, Wallisellen, or Kloten (including the airport).
P.S. Restaurants that provide takeaway are also an option.

Thanks in advance for your help
There are two Lebanese restaurants that serve good hummus for cheap - one at Schaufhauserplatz (opened not long ago) and the other long time Lebanese take-away near Hafnerstrasse and Josefstrasse.

Tahini has been available for quite some time.

It's must to make good hummus.
