Re: Happy little Vegemite?

Anybody tried Cenovis? It is different, although ingredients are the same.
Must get some - loved it as a child - mixed with butter. Yum. Tell me what you think.

If it keeps Alzheimers at bay - I'll have battery acid, Cenovis, Marmite and Vegimite. Well worth it, IMHO.

Re: Happy little Vegemite?

We have guests staying here at the moment from Melbourne and they are EATING ALL OUR VEGEMITE. I'm sure they don't eat it at home and it's just a bit of a novelty for them but I'm sure they don't appreciate the difficulties and costs involved in getting it.

Does anyone know where we can get some Vegemite, near Lausanne or Geneva?? I know there is a website that we can order from, but would like to get some this weekend if possible!!
The American Market (which should be re-named to the international market) in Nyon has it on the shelf. Or at least they did a week ago when I visited. It is right across from the train station, so easily accessible on the Geneve-Lausanne corridor.

edited to add-- for those further away, you can also apparently order it online through them http://www.americanmarket.ch/

And for marmite lovers, it is also available there as well.

Awesome, thanks RunningDeer!! I will stalk the place tomorrow morning and see what it has to offer.

I reckon if I let the hubby out at the station, his nose will lead us right to it (if it doesn't get confused by the smell of beer)

Cenovis truely is a 'once in a lifetime' experience....... yep, I've tried it once, and that'll do.

Ha Ha..... It's actually OK, but adding to the Promite, Cenovis, Marmite, Vegemite agrument - each to their own. I won't judge you for your preference.

LOL you'd think so but not! Shapes are little crackers made by Arnotts with flavouring on them.. Pizza is definitely one of the best!

This happens to us, too!

But to be fair, I remember years ago travelling around Spain and staying with an Aussie friend in Barcelona for a few days. We were so thrilled to eat vegemite after only a break of two months that we probably ate most of hers

Re: Happy little Vegemite?

They sell Marmite in the Coop at the Au Centre in Lausanne (if you are willing to substitute Marmite for Vegemite.....)

Re: Happy little Vegemite?

Great news all, the weekend Vegemite hunt for Lausanne area has come up trumps!!! Giddy up!! Massive thanks to all involved, in particular -

Runningdeer - The American Market in Nyon definitely stocks it (however please note: we just cleaned them out so unless they have some out back it might be wise to wait a week or two for restocking)

Nic80 - the British van at Ouchy on Sunday also had 2 jars on the shelf. She did say however, that they are only on the sunday markets from April - Oct. If she runs out she heads back to UK regularly - and does do requests! (I did try for pizza shapes but alas, she had no idea)

And if both these fail, Carlos can help as they stock Vegemite and deliver anywhere within Switzerland. A new delivery just arrived last week!!

I have a very happy hubby but untimately my success caused another downfall... the unvierse had to right itself, with the Swans now out of the Finals. *sigh*

Ok.. as a vegemite connoisseur from way back, and also being a type of person who does try to adapt to a new environment, I tried Cenovis for the first time today. (Given to me by a person from Swiss Romandy, but can be purchased at Coop.)

Although I could not say it will replace the beloved Black Gold, it will at least tide me over between rescue packages of "real food".
I am unsure if I can smuggle it onto the kids toast, but will at least give it a go..

And the best part? Seems like it may have made its way to Australia

Re: Happy little Vegemite?

I'm not sure that Cenovis the vitamin company in Australia is in any way related to Cenovis the spread in Switzerland.
