Looking for instructions / recipe for making peppermint extract (for cooking) yesterday reminded me of a plant I'd like to acquire and try to grow. From what I've read, it seems more like it would be an issue of trying to get it to STOP growing so I figure I'm safe with this.
What I'm looking for is a
Chocolate Mint plant for kitchen use and otherwise good smells entering my home from my terrace. As I am planning to do only container gardening, I'm not too worried about it taking over a garden... although I imagine it would be quite nice to have as ground cover, as long as you like how mint and chocolate smells together.
So, the question is this - does anyone know of a good source for this plant? It seems now is a good time to plant and get it established for next spring.
Another source
here.

| Chocolate Mint (Mentha piperita cv.) smells like an Andes chocolate Mint candy. Great for drinks and desserts. As this plant can be invasive, plant in bottomless containers sunk in the ground, or above the ground. Prefers partial shade, though they will tolerate full sun. Harvesting of mint leaves can be done at anytime. Fresh mint leaves should be used immediately or stored up to a couple of days in plastic bags within a refrigerator. | |
