Some of them were Swiss (Anabaptist refugees settled in Germany, then some generations later emigrated from there) but most were originally German, either Lutheran or Reformed.

It's possible.

According to my grandmother, our lot were Bavarians - but whether that's based on 260 years of oral tradition, actual research, or whether she's just googled her mother's maiden name I don't know.

(Anecdotally, the few words of Pennsylvania Dutch she still remembers don't sound to me like Bavarian or Swiss German...)

Although thinking about it, there is a porn shop in the basement of a co-op centre near here.....

Hmmmm.....makes me wonder why we can't have any functioning watch, clock, and alarms at home.
