| | | Cricket WC: Ireland beats England
Nobody wants to say anything about Ireland's sensational win against England yesterday at Bengaluru? Fastest century so far in WC's history by Kevin O'Brien, highest total chased in the WC. Coming from the dead and winning against 400-1 odds...
This is what dreams are made of.

I had had a cursory glance at the score during the English innings and they were going so well that I didn't even bother to check again for a long time. Then much, much later, almost as an after thought, I went back, almost certain that by then the match would have ended with only one possible result. To my surprise, the Irish were still at it with about 240 odd for 5. Without even realising how or when, I started cheering every stroke. It still seemed a mountain too high to climb. Then there were those wickets of Cussak first and then O' Brien himself and I found myself praying and egging them on. The way the target was finally chased was priceless.
Andrew Strauss is a nice guy. It almost seemed like he would cry at the presentation. One felt sorry for him. However, much more than that, one felt extremely happy for the Irish.
There is a very good article about this win, on Cricinfo by Sambit Bal and in Sydney Morning Herald by Peter Roebuck.
Any more surprises Ireland?

This is what dreams are made of. | | | | | What do you expect when good batsmen go up against piss poor bowlers who've clearly had enough cricket and want to go home... shambles.

It dawned on me, we were beat by a fantastic display of cricket from a team better than us...

No doubt that was an excellent display by the Irish team....and O'Brien's innings definitely set the two teams apart! Awesome display of cricketing skills.

Following England's WC campaign online is heart-palpatating stuff...
The Windies need 20 more runs, off 6 overs, 1 wicket remaining.
Edit, whilst I was typing, last Windies wicket has falling. England win to keep them in the competition...for the time being at least.

Are SA cricket fans familiar with the expression "to choke"? http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc_cric...ch/433602.html |
