Wow thanks Terry,
many thanks,
Do you want to meet up at the Big Ben and find out if they are showing the football?
If they do not there are plenty other options to check out.

| The ex-pat bars all get crowded for all the sporting events, although recently Paddy Reilly's has been much less crowded as the new layout is more "smoker friendly" than "drinker friendly" so a lot of people go elsewhere.
Other options would be
Nelson - close to HB, shows all the games (usually), not a great pub IMO
McGees - Opposite Bhf Wiedikon, got a big TV, nice spot, not 100% authentic "Irish" but not a bad sports bar.
Shamrock - At Wollishofen, last stop on the 7 tram, probably the best "Irish bar" in the city but a long way from anywhere. Not a great spot for the Sunday matches as it's full of quizzers.
Penny Farthing - even further away in Aarau but this is a really good pub and not bad for a "day trip" to watch some sports and get on the beers
Mr Pickwick in Zug - even further away again, but same category as the Penny.
Big Ben Westside - near Hardbrucke, never been here to watch sport so no idea how full it gets
Plus there are screens in the Big Ben and Bonnie Prince on Niederdorf but can't say for sure if they show the football, and Oliver Twist just off Niederdorf has big screens for sport but I think that's more of a rugby pub...
Plenty of options to try but the bottom line is that anywhere you go will be packed for the big matches. If you want peace and quiet, pay for a Sky subscription and watch it at home. | |
