It would be a travesty if FCB were punished for the Swiss FA and FC Sion's incompetence. However, it's no surprise to see FIFA resorting to such a low trick as holding Basel's place hostage in order to get the two unrelated parties to dance to their tune - their reputation couldn't really fall much lower.

Manchester United would be fairly embarrassed to 'qualify' for the Champions League knockout stage through that route.
