BBC iplayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bb...e_sports_extra will only work if you have a UK VPN or disguised IP add-on like anonymoX

Or you can get almost live written commentary on the Telegraph website (and probably elsewhere). http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/cri...-one-live.html

Re: ashes 2015 commentary online?

i should have said: yeah live commentary. i follow the over by over report from the guardian which is always good for most sport events (they do football minute by minute), but when it comes to one of the big smoking craters so to speak, i really want the live commentary. and actually thanks for the heads up about the i-player, i'll give that a go coz i preferably want to listen to tms!

what i'd do for a sky feed and tms on the radio! and a really nice flat in somewhere like kilchberg and also enough money to retire on.

Indeed. Brilliant. Right up to the point when England are 33 for 8...

[soapbox] What is it about spectators who get so excited about the score in the very first innings, before both teams have had a crack at the ball? Sure get excited, but it don't mean much until we get to the half-way mark in the match... So our bowlers are doing well, and of course we know we have a brilliant batting line up and the Australians don't have any bowlers to be worr... oh, hang on a mo[/soapbox]

Though if our bowlers getting movement on the ball, I wonder how the two Mitchels will perform. especially with our top 3

Don't know. But I don't think the Australians can move it as well as Anderson and our bowlers - they are "simply" faster, which of course brings its own challenges to our batsmen.

What we saw at Lord's was the Australians able to use some speed on what was a flat pitch. Because our bowlers couldn't get to the ball to move enough, our attack was nullified against what is a stronger batting line up.

The difference here is that we are able to swing the ball effectively on a livelier pitch.

Now we need to get that damned tail out, another weakness which can be more effectively exploited by raw power of a pace attack.

In summary, we have a good bowlers if given the right track and conditions... It's another reason we historically don't travel that well (Australian and SA). In drier, less humid conditions raw pace will win over swing.

Fingers crossed. It'd be great if our line-up worked, but I've always mistrusted Bell. I get the impression he is a confidence player, i.e. if all around him are doing well he's fine, if not then he's out cheaply. There aren't many examples where he's lead a fightback from the front. Plenty where he's hammered an additional nail in the coffin, but built on those around him. And now he's up to 3... sigh. Hope I'm eating my words later.

Re: ashes 2015 commentary online?

Tomorrow looks a better batting day, so I would probably try and keep the aussies in a bit longer today to minimise our batters exposure today.

Clarke seems to have made a rather bad call on the toss.

They have already scored more than England did in the 4th innings of the last match!
