How the bloody hell is Beckham on that list?! What about the SPOTY vote? I'm going to be voting for Tyson Fury, besides being a big boxing fan I also hope he comes in the top three so's to show two fingers to that baying mob that wants him silenced.

Recent lifetime award winners

2014: Sir Chris Hoy (cycling)
2013: Sir Alex Ferguson (football)
2012: Lord Coe (athletics)
2011: Sir Steve Redgrave (rowing)
2010: David Beckham (football)
2009: Seve Ballesteros (golf)
2008: Sir Bobby Charlton (football)
2007: Sir Bobby Robson (football)
2006: Bjorn Borg (tennis)
2005: Pele (football)

Only in the UK, one can be voted Sports Personality of the year, years after retiring (Pele, Borg, Charlton etc).

Next year: Stanley Matthews

Lifetime Achievement Award is not the same as being Sports Personality of the Year. Two different things. AP was named Sports Personality of the Year in 2010 having managed to finally win the Grand National at his 15th attempt!

So in a nutshell, he got it for flogging a (dead, well with that lifestyle...) horse?

The horse does all the work, the little chap on its back gets all the credit.

Sounds like life in the typical workplace!
