Sports Sponsorships

I'm watching the Manchester United, Villareal football game and noticed that Manchester United are wearing shirts emblazoned with AIG. Now that AIG has been bailed out by the US government, can we expect Uncle Sam will be looking to replace the unpopular Glazers by buying the entire team?

This is the second time in a week that a major football team has seen their shirt sponsor go belly up. West Ham had to cover up the name of XL on the weekend. Is this a trend and is there a cause and effect?

Sorry, but Tim beat you to this observation by more than a day, see his post in the FAIL of the day thread.
